The door does not open after washing in the LG washing machine

Imagine a situation: the LG machine finishes washing and signals the user about it. The hostess comes to the typewriter to remove the laundered, but can not do this because the door remains locked. That's the trick, the machine doesn’t give away linen, “it would be funny if it weren’t so sad.” Why doesn’t the door of the LG washing machine open after washing? Let's all figure it out together.

Why does the door not open?

If this is the first time you have encountered a similar problem, do not rush to panic. The fact is that some delay in unlocking the hatch door after the LG washing machine has finished washing is normal.

UBL is responsible for blocking the hatch door, as well as unlocking it. The locking device inside has a special alloy plate. Heated when a voltage is applied, the plate blocks the hook of the lock, and with it the hatch door. As soon as the machine completes, the voltage ceases to be applied and the plate cools down gradually. Cooling down, the plate unlocks the hook and it becomes possible to open the hatch door. The cooling rate of the plate will depend on a number of factors:

• ambient temperature
• the temperature of the washing machine;

If you washed for a long time at a high temperature, you should not wait for a quick unlock, since the heated housing of the washing machine transfers heat to the UBL for some more time.

• location of the washing machine.

The latter factor is very important. Users often install washing machines in the kitchen near the stove. Heat from the hot plate is transferred to the SM housing, prolonging the cooling process of the plate. Hence the problem. One way or another, if the UBL is working properly, the door must unlock sooner or later. What to do?

1. After washing, disconnect the machine from the power supply.
2. We expect a maximum of 15-20 minutes.
3. We try to open it, if the door still remains locked, we need to take measures to emergency opening.

How to open the machine?

If, in spite of your expectations, the hatch of the LG washing machine does not open, you will have to urgently open the door and pull out the laundry. Of course, we will not crack the castle with a nail clipper and sledgehammer, there are much more humane methods.

1. First, check if the machine is de-energized.
2. If the length of the hoses allows, we push the washer toward us to gain access to the top cover. You may need to disconnect the inlet and outlet hoses, in this case, do not forget to shut off the water supply.
3. Next you need remove the top cover of the washing machine.
   
4. Through the hole formed from above, we put our hand down and remove the UBL flag. The device is approximately at the level of the door handle, so to quickly find the emergency opening flag, shine a flashlight there.
5. When removing the flag with one hand, you must open the hatch door with the fingers of the other hand.

That's all, the door could be opened this time, but the fact is that the next time the malfunction appears again. In order not to disassemble the LG washing machine after each wash, you need to establish the causes of the malfunction and make repairs yourself.

Troubleshoot

First we need to remove the front wall of the LG washing machine, test the UBL, make sure that the device is broken. Next, we need to either repair the UBL or replace it, most likely the second, but so far this is far from it.

After opening the hatch door, inspect the hook carefully. The hooks of the locking devices of the LG washing machines are quite durable and they break often, but often the springs fly out, which ensures the mobility of the hooks. If the door did not open due to a violation of the mobility of the hook, it is worth disassembling the door, put the spring in place and this completes the repair.Such a breakdown is a matter of 5 minutes, even for an average person who does not know which side to take on a screwdriver.

If the door is serviceable, and the breakdown occurred due to problems with the UBL, you will have to climb into the washing machine housing once again. Check if the machine is plugged in and then act.

1. To the right of the hatch of the washing machine we see the UBL hole and two screws next to it, one screw on top of the other from below. Both screws need to be unscrewed.
2. Open the hatch door as wide as possible, then take a flat screwdriver, bend the edge of the hatch cuff and try to find the clamp that holds it.
3. There is a spring below or above the clamp, pry it with a screwdriver, bend it down and remove the clamp.
4. Insert the cuff of the hatch inside the drum so that it does not interfere with work. On the right, a gap will open between the front wall of the LG machine body and the edge of the drum, carefully remove the UBL through it.
   

Note! When you pull out the UBL, do not accidentally tear off the supply wires.

5. We take a multimeter and ring out the power wiring, and then the UBL. If the part turns out to be faulty, disconnect the wiring, remove the old device, and install a new one in its place.
6. We push a new UBL into place, after connecting the wiring to it, we fasten the UBL to the front wall of the housing.

That's all, it remains only to check how the new UBL will work. In rare cases, the cause of the breakdown is not the UBL or the lock, but the control module of the LG washing machine.
