Can I use laundry detergent to wash kitchen dishes?

can washing powder go in the dishwasher?Our people are very often drawn to everyday experiments. Apparently the “inquisitive mind” does not give rest. Many, for example, reading the composition of dishwashing powder, noticed that it is very similar to the composition of ordinary washing powder, with the exception of two or three components. The conclusion came to mind quickly. Since the composition of the washing powder is almost the same, it means that it can also be used in the dishwasher, especially since it costs much less than a special powder. We would not advise you to rush to conclusions and start washing dishes with washing powder. At least evaluate the arguments of experts.

What are the dangers of such experiments?

Suppose we start using ordinary washing powder to wash kitchen dishes, what can happen. Some experimenters think of putting hand washing powder in the dishwasher, and then find clouds of foam all over the kitchen. The fact is that hand washing powder foams a lot and cannot be used in the washing machine or dishwasher at all.

Foam may well get into the control module of the dishwasher and short out the contacts, which will result in expensive repairs.

If you use machine washable powder, there may be no visible problems. The dishes will wash normally, and the dishwasher will not be damaged, unless, of course, you forget to add additional salt. But hidden problems will definitely appear. The fact is that washing powder contains toxic components that can cause allergies. These components remain on the dishes even after repeated rinsing and are not so easy to wash off.If you heat soup in a microwave in a plate washed with washing powder, a lot of chemicals will penetrate into the food, which can cause:

  • food poisoning;
  • severe allergies;
  • suppression of the immune system;
  • respiratory diseases, etc.

Why don't we recommend such experiments? Yes, because even after a single wash with washing powder, your dishes will be so saturated with chemicals that you are unlikely to wash them even in 15 rinses, especially if they are plastic and not ceramic. Do you think it’s worth ruining half the dishes in the house for the sake of dubious savings of a couple of dollars? In our opinion, this is great stupidity and even a crime if you thus intend to wash children's dishes.

Conclusion: using washing powder instead of normal dishwashing powder is very dangerous for the health of even adults, let alone children. If you want to save money, it's better to find a good one recipe for homemade dishwasher tablets, reproduce it and continue to wash dishes without fear of adverse consequences.

How to wash dishes if you run out of product?dishwasher tablets

If it's evening and you need to wash the dishes, but you find that you've run out of detergent, you shouldn't leave dirty dishes overnight. You can wash the dishes simply without any detergents, but at high temperature. You will get a passable wash quality due to the fact that the dishes will be in contact with hot water for a long time. This method is not suitable if you are washing items made of fragile glass or materials sensitive to hot water.

According to people's reviews, you can wash dishes a couple of times with regular baking soda. This method is not very effective, but if the dishes are not very dirty, you can try. You should not overuse soda, as it negatively affects the ion exchanger of the dishwasher.

As a last resort, you can use the unpopular method - wash the dishes by hand. It is clear that if you have a dishwasher, no one wants to wash dishes using the “old-fashioned method”, but on the other hand, this is the best way to train your memory. The next time you go to the hardware store, you won't forget about dishwasher detergent.

So, washing powder should not be considered a universal product that is suitable for both dirty laundry and dirty dishes. If it is good for washing clothes, then in the case of dishes it can be very dangerous and negatively affect the body, causing a whole range of diseases. What does it mean? This means that it’s time to stop with some unsafe household experiments and stock up on normal dishwashing detergent. Good luck!
