Inexpensive dishwashers offered by the Ikea furniture supermarket chain have attracted the interest of many people, but there is still little experience in operating such equipment, and it is not clear whether it is reliable or not, whether it is worth buying or not. As part of the article, we collected reviews from consumers who purchased dishwashers from Medelstor and Skinande and can talk about their impressions of using these new products from Ikea.

I purchased the Medelstor dishwasher on occasion along with furniture at the Ikea store. A friend liked the kitchen set that was presented at the exhibition stand, and it already had a built-in dishwasher. The kitchen was assembled for us and the dishwasher was installed quickly and professionally. For the first wash of dishes we used Finish washing powder and Finish salt, after about six months we started washing dishes with cheap powder from Auchan, the dishes still washed clean.
We have not washed dishes by hand for a year and two months now, and it gives us considerable pleasure. Previously, I could not look at the mountain of dishes in the sink and on the table without shuddering, because I understood that I would have to wash it all. Now I can easily put the mountain into the dishwasher (often in two batches) and it washes everything perfectly. The dishwasher with a dubious little-known name turned out to be very good.

I wanted to buy an inexpensive and high-quality dishwasher, a relative recommended a dishwasher from Ikea Medelstor.Our choice may seem strange to some, but it’s just that my sister-in-law, grandmother and cousin already have Ikea cars. Grandmother Lagan, sister-in-law have Medelstor and cousins also have Medelstor. Everyone's car works great and everyone is happy. I looked at the looks of both Lagan and Medelstor, I liked the latter better, and decided to take it.
My husband installed the car himself, he changed his mind, the cord is short, there are not enough bolts, or the hose is defective. As a result, he extended the cord, bought long hoses and bought something from fasteners, I don’t even know what, they connected it, it works. Washing dishes is average, I used to have a Bosch dishwasher, it washed better. It makes the same noise as my old Bosch, I expected quieter operation from the new car, although extraneous sounds do not bother anyone in the family. I was pleased with the dishwasher, the equipment is excellent.

Six months ago I decided to give myself a gift – a dishwasher. It’s not that I hate washing dishes, but I still wanted to add a little variety to my boring life. I searched for a long time, read a huge number of reviews about Boshi, and about Indesits, and about Samsung, and about other brands, I even read reviews of Lagan dishwashers. I studied the advice of experts and in the end, I firmly decided to buy a Bosch brand dishwasher, but I bought Medelstor. It all turned out quite funny, I went to Ikea to buy a coffee table, and came out with a dishwasher.
The sale plus the seller's persistence did the trick. And now I’ve been washing dishes every day for six months and taking care of my hands. I found two drawbacks in the Medelstor dishwasher: the tray for spoons and forks is very inconvenient, I can really only put teaspoons in it, Also, the baskets for dishes are quite small, all the accumulated dishes are not included, you have to wash them in three steps, and this is annoying. I give the machine a solid four, it doesn’t reach a five.

I really respect the Ikea company, almost all the furniture and lamps in my house are from Ikea, but I had my doubts about the dishwasher, although the seller persistently advised me to buy it. What finally convinced me was that their Medelstor built-in dishwasher comes with a five-year warranty. After all, they won’t give a five-year guarantee for any “nasty thing.”
Noted the following:
- The dishwasher is quite wide even for a full-size built-in dishwasher, as much as 68 cm, with a standard width of 60 cm. It’s good that I had the opportunity to calculate the dimensions of the niche after purchasing the dishwasher, and this way you can easily work out the dimensions.
- You can immediately throw away the standard hoses, and it’s not even a matter of length, but of quality. The technicians who installed the car immediately advised me to buy longer ones with protection against leaks, since I have almost 2 meters from the drain to the niche.
- The washing tank can hold up to 9 standard sets of dishes, in general this is enough, but I have three children and relatives often come, so I would like more capacity.
- It washes dishes very well with any means, I tried expensive German powders, tablets, cheap Russian ones, and even homemade powder - the result is excellent.
My Medelstor has been working for 7 months without failures or serious complaints. I clean the filters, baskets and inner walls regularly, monitor the amount of salt and try to add detergent according to the norm.

I just now realized how terrible my life was without a dishwasher. Constantly dirty dishes, dirty dishes, dirty dishes again. The husband and children love to eat, the husband often cooks various delicacies, but washing dishes is apparently not a man’s job. Instead of arguing with him over trifles, I decided to buy a dishwasher. Skinanda liked the built-in dishwasher; it was specially made by Electrolux for Ikea. Very high quality and cost me only $170. If you have the same situation and don’t know which dishwasher to choose, buy Skinanda - you won’t regret it!

I’ve been using a Siemens dishwasher for 6 years, it’s just what I need, it washes dishes perfectly and doesn’t kill. At least that's what I thought until my Siemens control board burned out. I had to remember how to wash dishes by hand. I didn’t like the memory, and at that time I didn’t have enough money for a new car. I was saved by a neighbor who was moving to Moscow and selling her home appliances. I took the Skinande built-in dishwasher from her for a pittance; it just fit into my kitchen set. The car is almost new, it was two months old, and now I’ve been using it for five months.
The brand, of course, seemed strange to me, but I didn’t have to choose, I desperately needed a dishwasher. What is the result? It turned out that for just $80 I bought a “gold mine.” The machine washes dishes twice as well as my old Siemens, the plates shine. No expensive means are needed The capacity is very good - 12 sets, and even with intensive work the machine does not make strong sounds, you can load the sink at night - it won’t hurt. Skinande gets five points with three pluses from me.

Since I chose a dishwasher for myself, probably no one else did! I studied all the catalogs, all the selling sites, interviewed my friends, re-read hundreds of reviews, special magazines about household appliances. I approached the issue very seriously, scientifically. The result of my research was a Skinande brand dishwasher. At a fairly low price, it has a lot of advantages: efficiency, spaciousness, a good set of programs, low noise level, convenient baskets. Plus, it is built-in and the manufacturer gives a 5-year warranty on it. I’ve been using the machine for over a year now and I don’t regret the purchase for a second, the dishes are always consistently clean.
Dishwashers Skinande and Mendelstor are equipment of fairly high quality, which is confirmed by consumers. However, it should not be idealized, because, in fact, only 1% of dishwasher owners in Russia use such dishwashers. In fact, it's a couple of thousand people. If sales volumes of this equipment increase, then we can talk about some patterns - we will wait.

Such strange names for dishwashers and any other equipment were invented by Ikea itself.It's all made to order. And essentially it’s either Electrolux or Whirlpool.
Larisa, Moscow writes in her review about PMM Mendelstor? It’s strange, the machine has a standard width of 45 cm. But she talks about some 68 cm. I have never seen dishwashers with such a width anywhere, especially in Ikea :)
