Marking Bosch and Siemens dishwashers

Bosch dishwasher markingWhen choosing a Bosch or Siemens dishwasher, we inevitably come across the full names of specific models, including the markings. But few people know what labeling is, and most importantly what it means in relation to a specific model of Bosch or Siemens dishwashers. Decoding of markings is usually provided by the manufacturer himself, but the manufacturer does not always bother to correctly translate it into Russian. In this article we will try to decipher the marking of Bosch and Siemens dishwashers and give explanations on this decryption.

Symbols of the general characteristics of the dishwasher

To begin with, we tried to find out how the marking of Bosch dishwashers and Siemens dishwashers differs. It turned out that there are no significant differences, in 99% of the characteristics of the marking completely coincide. That is why we allowed ourselves to generalize the deciphering of markings and present them in a unified form. The main markings that characterize a particular Bosch or Siemens dishwasher model go immediately after the brand name.

Bosch dishwasher markingFor example, the Bosch SPS40E12RU dishwasher has the marking SPS40E12RU. First you need to parse the first three letters of this designation from left to right, since these are symbols of the general characteristics of dishwashers that contain the most important information.

The first element of the marking is the same in all cases, unless of course we are talking about a dishwasher, and not a washing machine or another machine. If you see a dishwasher in front of you, then the marking will begin with the letter “S”. If you go into details, we can say that this element is the first letter of the word Spueler, which in a free translation means "a machine designed to care for dishes."

The second element of the marking of specific Bosch or Siemens dishwasher models tells us about their typology and generation. In this case, there are options and there are many of them:

  • the element "R" denote dishwashers with a width of 45 cm of the first generation;
  • the element "P" denote dishwashers 45 cm wide of the second (last) generation;
  • the element "G" indicates standard machines with a width of 60 cm of the first generation;
  • the element "M" means 60 cm of the second generation dishwasher;

Note! Dishwashers of the first generation and second generation differ from each other in a more compact arrangement of parts and often a modification of these parts.

  • “B” means a dishwasher whose height differs from the standard one and is more than 86 cm. The width of such machines is 60 cm, they are referred to as second-generation dishwashers.
  • the element "K" indicates non-standard desktop models of second-generation dishwashers.

The third element of the marking tells us about the typology of a particular model of the dishwasher.

  1. The “S” element means that this Bosch and Siemens dishwasher model is not built-in.
  2. The element "I" means that the indicated model of the dishwasher has the ability to be embedded.
  3. The element "V" indicates that the machine is fully integrated into the furniture.
  4. The element "U" means that this model of the dishwasher can be built in and it even has its own facade.

Specification Symbols

The fourth and fifth symbols are elements of the specification for the model of the dishwasher, which tell us about its completeness. By the fourth character, we can determine which software package is available for a particular model of Bosch and Siemens dishwashers.

  • If the number is 4, this means that this model of dishwashers has only the main set of programs.
  • If the number is 5, it means that the dishwasher has a basic set of programs and additional functions.
  • If the number is 6 - this means the dishwasher has an expanded set of programs.

The fifth symbol tells us about the technical configuration of a particular model of dishwasher. In this article, we will not give specific examples, since you can read about them in another publication called Designations in the dishwasher.

Model class

The class of the model is, in fact, a veiled designation of the price category to which, according to the manufacturer, one or another model of the dishwasher should belong. There are five categories for Bosch and Siemens dishwashers (they are also classes).

  1. The lower price category is indicated by the letter "E".
  2. The price category below the average is indicated by the letter "N".
  3. The average price category is the letter "M".
  4. The upper price category is “T”.
  5. Elite price category - “U”.

Note! What is the specific price of models related to the lower or upper price category, the manufacturer does not specify.

Do not confuse the class model of the dishwasher with the class of its energy consumption. This is a completely different notation system, according to which it is possible to establish how economically this or that Bosch and Siemens dishwasher consumes electricity. You can familiarize yourself with the energy efficiency classes of dishwashers by looking at the picture below.

Where it is made and where it is delivered

The last 2 characters of the marking tell us about the territory in which the manufacturer plans to sell this model of Bosch and Siemens dishwashers. There are two main options: RU - means that the specific model of the dishwasher is planned to be sold in the Russian Federation, EU - means that the dishwasher is planned to be sold in the EU countries.

Additional markings are also of great importance, which are usually put on the packaging of the dishwasher or on its case. These designations tell us where this particular dishwasher was made.

  • SAS, SLX, SLF - made in Germany.
  • SAE, SOR, SFX - made in Poland.
  • SFO - made in Turkey.
  • SOT - made in France.
  • SLM - made in China.

Note! Markings telling about the origin of the dishwasher may differ from the above if the dishwasher was made before 2006.

In conclusion, we note that after reading this article, you can decipher the marking of any Bosch or Siemens dishwasher model. Nevertheless, do not forget to read also the characteristics of the dishwashers, they will be much more able to tell about the machine you are interested in. Good luck
