The best baby laundry detergent

baby powdersWith the birth of a child, all parents think about how to wash their children's clothes. The range of powders is too huge, including hypoallergenic powders, powders for newborns, and just for children. Which one is the best, which one washes things efficiently and does the least harm to the child? It is not easy to answer these questions; you need to study the composition of the powders, conduct an experiment and wash the contaminated items, and only then draw a conclusion.

Requirements for children's laundry detergent

When choosing children's washing powder, you need to remember the requirements for children's powder:

  • the absence of phosphates and their substitutes zeolites, which not only affect the environment, but also the child’s skin, his immunity, and the functioning of the excretory system;

    Phosphonates are no less dangerous, and therefore their content in the powder should also be minimal, it is better if they are not present at all.

  • absence of surfactants or their reduced quantity; surfactants of plant origin are less harmful. Surfactants should not exceed 15% of the total composition of the powder, because they are difficult to rinse out of clothes and linen, and then get on the child’s skin;
  • absence of chlorine and bleach with optical particles;
  • natural composition, including plant-based soap, soda, soap nut, water, and maybe other harmless ingredients;
  • the presence of the mark “hypoallergenic”, “eco-friendly”, “children” or “for newborns”, such a label most often indicates the safe composition of the powder, although some manufacturers may hide the aggressive composition of the product;
  • absence of any pungent odor,
  • washing powder should dissolve well and quickly in water;
  • remove stains of various origins efficiently.

Varieties

Children's laundry detergents are produced in bulk and liquid forms. The composition of liquid products is usually less aggressive than the composition of loose powder. In addition, washing powder has a number of other differences from washing gel:

  1. the gel dissolves in water better than the powder;
  2. the water temperature when using the gel should be 30-40 degrees, and You can wash with powder at temperatures from 30 to 90 degrees, which increases its effectiveness when washing children’s heavily soiled laundry;
  3. powder contains dust particles, which, if they enter the respiratory tract, can cause irritation of the mucous membrane, leading to sneezing and lacrimation;
  4. the gel is more convenient to store, it is in a closed plastic container, while the powder can become saturated with moisture and stick together into lumps;
  5. Disinfecting components are added to the gels, as well as components that soften children's clothes.

For your information! The content of phosphates and surfactants also differs; usually their concentration is lower in gels.

Recommendations for selection

Choosing the best powder for children is not at all easy. Having entered an online store or a regular retail outlet in our city or village, we quickly become convinced of this. Even a village general store offers customers several varieties of powder for children, let alone a hypermarket, which has so much powder that you can easily drown in it.

Aggressive advertising does not help us at all, quite the opposite. Each manufacturer “pulls the blanket over itself”, strives to prove by all means that its powder is really the most worthy, but in reality it turns out to be quite the opposite.So the poor consumer has to use trial and error to find a suitable washing powder for children, risking the health of their loved ones every time.

We are against such a dubious lottery, so we suggest you pay attention to some recommendations from experts who will help you choose the highest quality powder for newborns and older children.

  1. If you prefer expensive foreign washing powders, beware of counterfeits. Install a product barcode recognition program on your smartphone. With its help, you can establish in seconds the origin of the powder right within the walls of the store.powder composition
  2. Don’t particularly look at the front side of the packaging of baby powder; there is mostly advertising information there, which does not always correspond to reality. Immediately unwrap the package of powder with the back side and read the composition.
  3. Pay attention to the expiration dates of the powder you choose. Please note that the older the powder, the less easily it can dissolve in water, which means it can be rinsed out of newborns’ things. The fresher the powder, the better.
  4. Make sure that the packaging is intact, especially soft packaging. Flimsy bags of powder often break, and dirt gets into the powder through the holes, not to mention the fact that quite a large amount of product spills out through the hole.

! Dents and severe scuffs on the baby powder box also speak volumes. If you see just such a box in front of you, move it to the side and take another one.

  1. Also look at the country where the powder is produced. Please note that children's washing powder from Europe will differ in quality from domestic ones for the better, but it will also cost much more.
  2. Don't really look at the price of the powder.Just as among expensive powders there are quite often worthless products, so among cheap ones, we did not notice any price pattern in this case.
  3. If you take baby powder in soft packaging, feel it for large lumps. If there are many lumps in the package, the product is not fresh, or was stored improperly, or both.
