Error code E3 in Krona dishwasher

error E3 PMM KronaCrohn dishwashers are not so rare in homes, and recently their popularity has even grown a little. Apparently this explains people's interest in the malfunctions of this equipment. Just recently, our specialists received a question about the E3 error in the Krona dishwasher. As you can see, the time has come to start deciphering the codes of these “home assistants”.

Various reasons

Why do experts say that the causes of the E3 fault code are diverse? Yes, because this code can indicate completely different problems. The main reasons for the E3 error are:

  • clogged fine filter;
  • faulty heating element;
  • broken thermistor;
  • faulty power supply wiring of the thermistor and heating element;
  • broken firmware of the control board.

In more rare cases, the E3 code is generated by a burned-out control module bus.

In the vast majority of cases, special attention should be paid to the fine filter, but if this is not the case, anything can happen. This E3 error is very extensive; it does not so much help the technician find and eliminate the cause of the problem as it throws him off the trail.

Fine filter clogged

If error E3 appears on the Krona dishwasher display, you should not immediately start disassembling the equipment; it may still work out. Try turning off the power to the dishwasher completely for 20 minutes and then starting it again. If the error appears again, it may be time to start repairs, but first we’ll clean the filter. It would seem, what does a garbage filter and uneven heating of water in the system have to do with it? In fact, there is a direct connection between these two problems.

Imagine a situation where water, draining from the dishes, remains in the washing chamber of the Krona dishwasher and does not go back into the system, or goes away slowly. The heating element continues to work with the same intensity, heating the remaining water more strongly than usual, since the program is designed for a certain volume of water. The thermistor sends a signal to the control module about the incorrect water temperature, and it blocks the operation of the dishwasher and displays error E3. Once normal water circulation in the system is resumed, the error will disappear.

  1. We free up space in the washing chamber of the dishwasher by removing the lower basket.
  2. We disconnect the lower spray arm, since it will interfere with cleaning the filter.
  3. We take out the coarse filter along with the mesh and put it aside.
  4. We put our hand into the filter bowl and take out another filter, which is designed for fine water purification.

Often the fine filter becomes covered with a layer of grease. A waterproof film is formed, which is the cause of the blockage.

  1. You need to wash and degrease all the filters, and then return them to their place.

Heating element or thermistor?error E3 on Krona dishwasher

It’s good if the problem is a clogged filter, but what if not? What to do in this case? You'll have to check the heating element, thermistor and power wiring of these parts, apparently the problem is with them. When preparing for repairs, you should turn off and disassemble the dishwasher. In this case, complete disassembly is not required, but the right side wall needs to be removed to get to the heating element and thermistor. Once you remove the wall, you will see the heating element right in front of your eyes.

  1. First, remove the power wires.
  2. Now we reconfigure the multimeter into ohmmeter mode and check the resistance of the heating element.
  3. Having detected a breakdown, we change the heating element; if a breakdown is not detected, we continue checking.
  4. We remove the supply wiring from the thermistor and check its resistance.
  5. Lastly, check the power wiring.

If the fault still cannot be identified, you should contact a qualified technician. Along with the above details, he will check the electronic board and make a verdict. Perhaps the cause of the error lies precisely in the electronics, although in this case it will not be possible to save on the services of a specialist.

So, how to fix a suddenly appearing E3 error in a Krona dishwasher? First of all, you need to check the garbage filter, and then the rest of the parts indicated in our list. Very soon you will find the reason, but if you don’t find it, call a specialist, most likely the matter is very serious.
