How to install a dishwasher door gasket

seal replacementReplacing the seal on the dishwasher door may be necessary when the door begins to leak. First, a few drops of water flow out onto the floor during the entire sink, this can easily be overlooked, but then it starts to drip quite cheerfully from the door and a significant puddle forms near the dishwasher. Installing the bottom gum of the dishwasher door will help to solve the problem, since it is the lower seal that most often causes the problem. Let's try to figure out how to do this.

Tools and accessories

No tools are needed at all to replace the upper seal of the dishwasher. It is enough to purchase a new original seal and replace it with a flick of the wrist. Everything is simple. But replacing the seal for the dishwasher, which is located below is somewhat more complicated. We will need:

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • tweezers or pliers;

Tweezers are needed in order to pry off and pull out the bottom gum, so if you don’t have exactly tweezers or pliers on hand, use any other suitable tool.

  • gloves
  • new original lower seal.

The upper and lower gum of the dishwasher Electrolux, Ariston or any other, are very different from each other. In addition, on different brands and models of machines are different gum. Pay special attention to this when ordering accessories. It is best to purchase or order rubber bands in company stores, we strongly do not recommend looking for a suitable replacement.

Procedure

PMM sealantWizards recommend replacing seals with a kit. Do not change only the bottom or only the upper seal, there will be little sense. It is best to start with the upper seal. We do the following:

  • fully open the door of the Coopersberg, Candy or any other dishwasher;
  • fingers grasp the seal, which is located on the edges of the washing chamber and tear it off;
  • unpack the new seal and gradually glue it to the place of the old one.

It is necessary to try so that the sealant "sat down" well and stuck to the bottom of the groove on the self-adhesive layer. As soon as you are convinced that the upper sealant has "sat down" in its place, you can proceed to replace the lower gum.

  1. Fully open the door of the dishwasher Bosch, Samsung or any other.
  2. We take a screwdriver and unscrew the screws that hold the front panel of the door.
  3. We close the door of the dishwasher, and then we pull off the front panel from the latches and remove it to the side.
  4. Again we open the door completely, and then we climb into the base with tweezers and grab the edge of the lower seal.
  5. Carefully pull out the old seal and set it aside.
  6. We take out a new gum from the packaging.
  7. We push the new gum into the place of the old one until it stops, so that it "sits" along the entire length. The seal must not protrude beyond the edges of the washing hopper.

Note! On the new rubber band there is a transverse slot. This slot should be on the right side of the door.

Now you need to close the doordishwasher Zanussi or any other. Pay attention to the bottom of the door. The lower seal should lie evenly in the groove and protrude forward by about 2-3 mm. Then we just have to put the front panel on the clips, fasten the screws and you can try to start the dishwasher. Repair is over.

Rubber Gasket Care

Daily use of the dishwasher leads to the fact that the bottom seal is almost constantly exposed to getting wet and drying. From such metamorphoses, the gum cracks over time and begins to leak water. To avoid this and extend the life of the seals, you need to pass a dry cloth along the edges of the washing chamber after each dishwashing, rubbing the rubber. A clean and dry gum will not go bad for a long time.

If the dishwasher was stored in a cold room for a long time, and then it was put into operation, the gum should be prepared. How to do it? We take the WD-40 liquid, spray it on a cloth, and then wipe the upper and lower gum. This simple measure will protect the seal from damage. But do not overdo it with grease; it should not spread.

To summarize, we note that the process of installing seals on a dishwasher takes 15 minutes for a professional and 30 minutes for a beginner. As you can see, this is not difficult, you will be looking for components longer than installing them later. The main thing is to be careful and take your time, then everything will be fine. Good luck
