How to Install a Dishwasher in Ikea's Kitchen

at the point of fitting the facadeTypically, installing a dishwasher in the kitchen, namely its integration does not create problems. Even the novice "homemade" manages to be able to do all the work in a relatively short time. But this is when the kitchen is made taking into account the features of the built-in dishwasher, and if not? In this article we will analyze cases when you need to install a third-party dishwasher in the kitchen from Ikea. We will also see what problems may arise during the work and how they can be solved.

What is the problem?

In order to install the built-in dishwasher in the niche of kitchen furniture, you need to: connect the water supply hose and drain hose to the machine, put the case into the niche to the end, hang the furniture facade. If the kitchen was made to order according to your size, there will be no problems. But if you bought a ready-made kitchen from Ikea and are trying to build a dishwasher into it, say Bosch, Electrolux, Kandy, Smeg, Hansa or another brand, there will be a problem at the stage of attaching the facade.

The fact is that the facade for a dishwasher in a standard ikeevsky kitchen is larger in height, due to the design of the dishwasher. Apparently, the manufacturer was not in vain conceived the design of his dishwasher so that only their equipment could be built into their own kitchens without problems, or maybe they just didn’t think it through. Even if Ikeev’s facade can be hung on the door of a third-party dishwasher, the door simply stops opening, since the lower part of the facade abuts against the niche frame.

Most often, the facade from Ikea can not be hung at all on the door of a third-party dishwasher, due to the incompatibility of the fasteners.

Here you have the problem out of the blue. Doorsdishwashers from Ikea They have a retractable design that allows you to hang such facades, while other cars cannot boast of this. To adapt such a facade, you will need at least “dancing with tambourines”, but you can do it more cunningly. For a fee, furniture makers can remodel the facade or make a new one to fit the size of the door. This is an additional cost and there is no guarantee that it will be possible to fit the facade clearly. You can try to solve the problem with your own hands, let's discuss how.

Facade fitting

Some masters advise using the good old "grandfather" fitting method. Its essence is that the facade is simply sawn with a jigsaw. It is necessary to saw off the part that prevents the dishwasher door from opening. If necessary, you need to rearrange the fasteners so that the door fits clearly. You will have to cut a piece of about 8 cm, then the facade will “sit down” clearly and the door of the dishwasher will begin to open and close freely. This method has disadvantages.

  1. Sawed down parts of the facade will open the bottom of the niche and legs of the dishwasher. There will be an “impartial” gap that, according to many, spoils the furniture composition of the kitchen.
  2. The facade must be sawed carefully so that no chips appear on the edges, otherwise it will be hopelessly damaged.

If you can make a quality cut, you must definitely process its edges with sandpaper.

  1. If the facade is not monophonic and has a pattern or pattern in front, this method will not work at all. After all, when we saw off part of the facade, we will violate the pattern, than spoil the appearance of the furniture 100%.installation on guides 1

The first drawback can be eliminated if you do not throw out a neatly sawed-off piece of the facade, and hang it on special Ikeev loops. He will thus hang loose attached to the bottom of the fitted facade and cover the bottom edge of the niche. With this solution, we “kill two birds with one stone”: firstly, we preserve the appearance of the kitchen, and secondly, we strive for the door to open and close freely. This method is also good because it does not require significant material costs, you only need your time and patience.

Rising facade

If the front part of the door has a texture or pattern, it is definitely impossible to saw it. But what then to do, because in this form it will not be possible to hang it. There is a solution, although it is not very simple, if you follow the instructions, everything will work out.

  1. We turn off the "native" fasteners from the door of the dishwasher. We leave the fasteners we need them.
  2. We get ball telescopic guides for furniture.
  3. We install one part of the guide on the door of the dishwasher, and the other on the back of the facade so that they clearly coincide.
  4. We connect the parts of the guide, while hanging the facade on the door of the dishwasher.

Now, when we open the door of the dishwasher, the facade along the guides will slide up and will not interfere with the opening. This design has only one drawback: it will take a lot of space in front of the dishwasher, because when you open the door, the facade will advance 30-50 cm, but this is not such a big problem.

So, we are once again convinced that there are practically no unsolvable problems, especially when it comes to embedding a dishwasher in the kitchen from Ikea. Be careful and accurate, you will certainly succeed.
