How to wash curtains with eyelets in the washing machine

One of the main questions of housewives is: will metal eyelets rust after washing? In fact, modern eyelets are made of coated metal or even stainless alloys, so there is no need to worry about them. Well, if the question is fundamental, then try pulling out the eyelets. In most cases, they come off just fine.

• Organza curtains can be washed, but they must first be soaked in cold water and then washed in a washing machine at a temperature not exceeding 30 degrees.
• Cotton and synthetic curtains with eyelets can be washed both by hand and in a washing machine with almost no restrictions, but there is no need to set the temperature too high: 60 degrees and spin at 800 rpm are optimal.
• Curtains made from Blackout fabric should be washed in a washing machine, with the spin switch turned off.Firstly, spinning will cause a large number of wrinkles to appear, and secondly, this is not necessary, because such fabric dries very quickly.
• Finished linen curtains with eyelets are best washed by hand, but machine washing is also acceptable. Just keep in mind that the water temperature should not be higher than 40 degrees, spin without restrictions.
• Dyed linen curtains can be washed at 60 degrees, but it is also preferable to do it by hand.
• Curtains made of acrylic and viscose can be machine washed at 40 degrees on a delicate cycle.

If you have chintz curtains with eyelets, then remember that it is better to wash them by hand in slightly salted water with the addition of vinegar. This solution will make the pattern on the curtains brighter and more saturated.

Description of washing

So, how to wash curtains? We put the curtains with eyelets in a special washing net and stuff them into the washing machine. Make sure that the drum of your “home assistant” is spacious enough. Washing machines with a load of 3, 3.5 and even 4 kg will not work. It is better that the load starts from 5.5 kg and above. Next we do the following.

1. Pour the gel into the powder tray according to the instructions for the product.
2. Choose washing modes and programs, based on the characteristics of the curtain fabric that we discussed above.
3. We set the double rinse, but again decide whether or not to set the spin cycle based on the characteristics of the fabric from which the curtains are made.

How to dry such curtains?

There are two ways to dry curtains: you can hang them immediately, but then they can stretch, or first dry them on a horizontal surface until damp, and then hang them on the curtain.Before laying the curtains on a horizontal surface, for example, on a folding drying rack, it must be covered with terry towels. They will quickly absorb excess moisture and the curtains will dry faster.

Remember! You cannot dry curtains with eyelets close to heat sources such as a radiator, heater, fireplace, etc., as the fabric may shrink.
