The principle of operation of the pressostat of the washing machine

Pressostat operationWhen problems arise with a washing machine, many housewives cannot even guess what the problem may be, as they vaguely imagine the contents of their SM. And meanwhile, you need to know at least approximately the structure and functions of the main parts, without which the unit is impossible to work. For example, do you know the principle of operation of the pressostat and what is it all about?

Why is it needed and how does it work?

As you might guess from the name of the part, its functionality is related to pressure. Have you ever thought about how the main module (which issues orders to all the details) “understands” what exactly needs to be done? For example, what does it signal to him that there is enough water in the tank and you need to either stop the collection or drain the already used water? For such purposes, there is a pressure switch. He participates in the washing process from start to finish, and indeed it would not be possible to do without it.

what does the pressure switch look likeThe fact is that for each program you need a different amount of water. The pressure switch is programmed to these values and as soon as the required volume appears in the drum, it gives the control module a signal to stop feeding. Even during the spin cycle, the pressure switch clearly controls the amount of water that comes out of the pressed things and gives the pump a signal to pump it out. Thus, after opening the drum, things are wrung out, and the water is already leaving.

The device itself is a rounded part with a plastic case, to which a hose and wiring are connected. What does this part do? Inside is a membrane and a switch. The action is as follows. The pressure in the drum is determined by the volume of water. Air enters the pressure switch through a hose and presses on the membrane. Since the membrane is a flexible part, it bends under pressure and presses the switch. That, in turn, through the wiring gives a signal to the module.

To find the pressure switch, just open the top cover of the washing machine. The device will be located near one of the side walls (left or right - depends on the manufacturer).

What parts does it consist of?

First, let's figure out what the part consists of. This is necessary for a better understanding of the principle of its work.

  1. Compression chamber. This is the base of the connecting hose that connects it to the pressure switch. It has the property of clogging, due to which errors appear, and then problems with pumping water.
  2. Sensors This is where the membrane is located. The sensor converts the pressure created by the liquid column into kilohertz (which measures frequency fluctuations).
  3. Magnet or ferrite core.
  4. Spring
  5. Diaphragm. Otherwise, the same membrane that bends under air pressure and presses the switch.
  6. Coil, capacitors and circuit board. These are auxiliary elements that do not directly participate in the signal, but support the viability of other parts and contacts.
  7. The adjusting screw and the housing itself, inside of which or next to which the main elements of the device are located.

what parts does the pressure switch consist of

The pressure switch works as follows: when air moves through the hose inward, the membrane presses on the magnet (core) of the oscillating circuit. And as a result of this, the oscillation frequency of the generator changes. The height of the core under pressure changes, and these changes are read by the adjusting screw.

Important! The programming in the pressure switch of the water volume takes place precisely using the values of the oscillation frequency.

For example, with an empty tank, the value is the highest, and with a full tank, the lowest. There is also an input fitting, which is the main concentration of programmed data. It is located at the very edge of the housing and intersects with the connecting hose. The input fitting just reads out the oscillation frequency and, based on the data laid down in it, determines how much water has entered the tank. The higher the volume, the lower the frequency. As soon as it reaches the minimum permissible value, the pressure switch generator is activated and sends a signal to the main module through the wiring.

So this important sensor of the washing machine also works. By the way, the level sensor of the washing machine is set at the factory, but sometimes these settings go astray and have to be restored.
