How to fix Error E23 in a Bosch Dishwasher

Bosch bug E23The unexpected actuation of the self-diagnosis system of a Bosch dishwasher is usually accompanied by a complete stop, up to eliminating the “irritant” and restarting the unit. In this case, the “irritant” is a breakdown or system failure, to which the self-diagnosis program responds. In this publication, we will examine error E23 in a Bosch dishwasher. We will focus on the causes of this error and on how to eliminate them faster and preferably with our own hands, so as not to overpay.

Why arises

Error E23, like any other, occurs suddenly. The machine stops and this can cause some users a real panic. Only a universal solution comes to mind: turn the dishwasher on and off. It really helps, the error disappears, but appears again after a few minutes. Why does error E23 occur? Experienced craftsmen identify three main reasons.

  1. The inability to discharge waste water with a machine. This is the main reason, it must be considered first.
  2. Water entering the pan and, as a result, the Aquastop system is triggered. This is an additional reason that on most models is identified by the self-diagnosis system as error E14 in the Bosch dishwasher.

It happens that the Bosch machine shows in turn errors E14, E18, E23 after each reboot of the unit. This directly indicates the presence of water in its pan.

  1. Malfunction of the control board of the dishwasher. This is a universal reason, because, due to a faulty board, the diagnostic system also fails and can show any error contained in the database.

It is very difficult to diagnose malfunctions of electronics at home. We will not describe these malfunctions, but we advise you to immediately contact a Bosch authorized service center if they are found.

Water in the pan

Determining the presence of water in the Bosch dishwasher tray is easy. It is necessary to disconnect the equipment from all communications, then pull it out to an empty seat, after laying something on the floor under the body, then tilt it to the right side. A strong side roll will cause water to leak from the pan, unless of course it is there.water in the pan

If enough water has been drained from the pan, then one of the hoses or pipes has lost its tightness and started to leak. How to fix this breakdown? You will have to remove the pan, exposing the inside of the dishwasher and inspect all the details that may get damaged. First, carefully inspect the barely visible seams inside the washing chamber. Sometimes, due to a manufacturing defect, a poor-quality seam starts to let in water, which from the camera falls straight into the sump.

Next, examine how correctly the dust filter is installed. Often after cleaning, the user puts the part in place without proper fixation. From this, water bypassing the seal begins to drain into the pan. You also need to inspect the sealing gum around the door, especially its lower part. A worn seal can cause a small amount of water to either spill onto the floor or drain into a drip tray, depending on the Bosch dishwasher model. If the leak was not detected due to inspection of the external parts, then the problem is inside, it is necessary to remove the pan.

  1. First, we remove the front panel of the door and the decorative panel from under the door.
  2. We close the door, remove the closers together with the hinge protection and open the door to the end.
  3. We remove the sound insulation. Under it, on the outer part of the pallet, you can find the screws connecting the pallet itself to the main body of the machine, we unscrew them.
  4. We remove the trash filter along with the mesh, simultaneously cleaning out all the dirt from there.

The lower sprayer can also interfere with disassembly, so we remove it.

  1. In the niche of the trash filter we find 4 screws that also need to be removed.
  2. We put the machine on the back wall.
  3. We remove all the parts connecting the pallet to the main body: wires, hoses, pipes, everything that can interfere with stretching the pallet.
  4. We pull the pallet gradually, separating it from the main body.

Exposed pipes, hoses, connections of pipes and hoses with other parts must be carefully inspected. Damaged nozzle must be replaced. Specialists do not recommend wrapping it with electrical tape or pouring sealant.

Water drain problems

drain pump replacementFaults caused by the inability to drain the water can be caused by a burned-out pump, damaged wiring or contacts supplying the drain pump, as well as a damaged control board bus. How to fix such problems?

We disassemble the Bosch dishwasher as described above. The drain pump is located on the side of the circulation unit. We turn it half a turn counterclockwise and remove, do not forget to disconnect the wires. We test the pump with a multimeter and, if necessary, change it to a new one. If the problem is in the power cable, it can also be found with a multimeter.

In conclusion, we note that the error E23 creates many problems, however, the malfunctions that it causes are not so difficult to eliminate. Here the main desire, determination and readiness for rigorous implementation of the instructions that the masters kindly provided. Good luck
