Error H2 on Samsung washing machine

error H2 in SamsungIf, a few minutes after the start of washing, error code H2 appears on the display of your Samsung washing machine, then you should think about repairing the equipment. Moreover, this error is an accurate indication of a malfunction. What to do in this situation, whether to call a specialist - we’ll talk about this.

Decoding the error

In a Samsung washing machine, the h2 error appears quite often. This message is deciphered as follows: water heating is not possible due to a breakdown of the heating system. No matter how much advertising praises ceramic heaters in machines of this brand, the fact remains that they are not that good. Rather, they can be called the weak point of Samsung washing machines.

So, error H2 appears on the display if within ten minutes the water in the drum does not heat up by more than 2 degrees. This can happen for various reasons:

  • the heating element has burned out, which happens most often when this error appears;
  • temperature sensor is faulty;
  • the wires between the heating element and the control module are faulty;
  • failure of the electronic module.

If the washing machine does not have a display, the user is notified of a malfunction using indicators on the control panel. In the case of no water heating, all lights will flash, except for the heating temperature lights at 400C and 600C, or temperature 600With and cold water, these pairs of indicators will remain lit rather than flashing.

H2 and 2H - is there a difference?

Users often confuse error code h2 with information message 2h. In fact, they are not the same thing. If in the first case this is a serious malfunction, then in the second case it is just a display of the remaining program time. The English letter h means hours, respectively 2h - two hours.

It is important that when error code h2 appears, the machine may stop working altogether and washing will not start. Although in some models of washing machines, the washing process takes place in cold water. This is easy to understand, if you touch the glass of the door with your hand, when heating the water, it should be warm. As for message 2h, the machine behaves as expected, no failures occur.

Replacing the heating element and temperature sensor

A heating element in a Samsung washing machine pulled out through the front wall. This complicates the process of replacing parts; you will have to disassemble almost the entire body of the machine. Before that, prepare a couple of screwdrivers and a multimeter. Next, follow the algorithm:

  1. remove the powder receptacle from the machine and unscrew the drainage filter;
  2. unscrew the top cover and temporarily remove it to the side;
  3. unscrew the screws that hold the front panel of the washing machine and carefully remove it and place it on top of the machine so that it does not interfere;
  4. Using a flat screwdriver, remove the bottom plastic panel;
  5. now you need to insert the rubber cuff into the drum, first removing the metal clamp on the cuff;
  6. We find screws along the perimeter of the front part of the case and unscrew them;
  7. remove the panel;
    replacing heating element_1
  8. Below under the tank, next to the counterweight, we find the contacts of the heating element, using a multimeter we measure the resistance to make sure that the part has burned out;

    ! A working heating element has a resistance of 25-30 Ohms, a burnt one will display 0 or 1 on the display.

  9. Now we disconnect the contacts from the heater and unscrew the central bolt;
    replacing heating element_2
  10. Using shaking movements, we try to remove the heating element; if the part does not give in, spray the base with WD-40 and leave for a few minutes;
  11. Before installing a new part, clean the seat from debris and foreign small objects;
  12. Having installed the heating element, you can assemble the machine by performing the steps in reverse order.

If the reason for the error is not the heating element, but the temperature sensor, then to replace it you will have to do no less work. After all, the temperature sensor is located at the base of the heater, on some models next to the heating element, in the tank body, as you see in the photo below.

Change this part and reassemble the machine. Check the functionality after the repair has been completed.

Repair of wiring and control module

The most common cause of lack of heating is electrical or electronics. To fix such a malfunction yourself, you need to have skills in this area. Otherwise, you can finally send the electronic module to the landfill. The fact is that in some cases the board can be repaired; it is enough to re-solder some burnt-out elements and tracks.

! It is also important that when completely replacing the control module, it may be necessary to install software, which is very difficult to do on your own.

However, identifying these elements is not so easy. Therefore, most often with such a problem they turn to a specialist, it will be cheaper, and if the money is too much, then you will definitely save your nerves.

As for the wiring, this is somewhat easier to deal with if you know how to work with a multimeter. You will have to ring all the wires going from the control board to the heater one by one, and then replace the broken wire.

So, the appearance of h2 errors on the display of a Samsung washing machine gives rise to serious problems, the solution of which in most cases is trusted to the experts.If you are determined to do everything yourself, we do not discourage you, but wish you good luck!
