Find the item

In LG's washers, the location of the pump is similar to the models of most manufacturers of household appliances. The pump is located in the lower part of the casing and is firmly fixed on the cochlea, into which the trash filter is installed and the nozzle from the tank is supplied. Thus, water from the tank enters the drainage system, and due to the isolation and tightness, the spent liquid is sent to the sewer without any problems.

To get to the pump, you do not need to disassemble the machine - it is enough to act through the bottom of the unit according to a rather simple scheme.

1. We disconnect the washing machine from the power supply, plumbing and sewage.
2. In the lower right corner of the case we find the technical hatch and open it with a slotted screwdriver.
3. Tilt the machine back so that the front legs 10-30 cm rise above the floor.
4. We substitute a container under the machine and cover the space around with old rags - when the drain filter is opened, water will pour.
5. We take out the trash filter by unscrewing the holding bolt and turning the “handle” of the nozzle by half a turn.
6. We look through the bottom into the machine and pay attention to the pump. If you can’t make out the pump, you can turn the unit on the left side (it is strictly forbidden to put the washing machine on the right side - the water remaining in the tank and nozzles can get onto the electronics).
7. Turning the pump counterclockwise, we try to "drown" it into the body, after which the mechanism will give in and allow itself to be reached.

Before pulling the pump towards you, carefully disconnect the wires that are connected, loosen the clamps and remove the nozzles. After the pump leaves the seat unhindered.

Why does the pump need attention?

The pump is often called the "heart" of the washer, as it is it that provides water circulation. But along with the waste fluid, dirt also enters the pump. Much remains in the tank, drum and trash filter, but something comes to the drain mechanism. If you do not regularly clean the device, the machine will stop washing. The pump gets dirty for various reasons:

• too hard and dirty water;
• low-quality and unsuitable detergents;
• garbage from clothes, including forgotten coins, hair, wool, buttons.

Clogging can be avoided. It is only necessary to carefully check the pockets, choose high-quality powders for machines and wash things in special pouches. Regular washing of the trash filter and complex purification of tap water will also help the “heart”.

Cleaning instructions

Cleaning a pump means a certain sequence of actions. First of all, we are talking about removing extraneous dirt from the impeller of the pump. We take a slotted screwdriver, twist two side screws and find a small ring with blades. It also needs to be cleaned of threads, hair, wool, or coins jammed in the spiral. As soon as the mechanism begins to rotate freely - go to the snail.

The snail is the seat of the pump, and here too everything should be cleaned. We also collect pieces of garbage, erase a scum with a rag both inside and outside. After comprehensive cleaning, the pump collects and returns to the snail. For successful installation, we act in a similar way, but in reverse order. Do not forget about the test wash, and if the machine washed without leaks, alarming hum and stops - everything is done correctly.
