Functions and modes in the washing machine - we explain it in your fingers!

Washing modes in a washing machineAutomatic washing machines have long been firmly established in our everyday life. Many housewives simply cannot imagine their life without this convenient and useful household appliance. And all kinds of functions and various modes allow any user to create the most optimal cycle for any type of fabric.

But the increasing technical sophistication of the washing machine comes at an additional cost. And potential buyers always face two questions. The first is what this or that functionality is intended for. And secondly, do I need these additional modes and functions of the washing machine. Moreover, it is now possible to obtain acceptable washing quality on the simplest machines, using only four modes - cotton (linen) at 95 degrees, synthetics at 60 degrees, wool and delicate fabrics at 40 degrees.

However, not all housewives will be satisfied with the basic features. To help you make your choice, let’s look at what is included in the functionality of washing equipment today.

Basic modes of washing machines

  • "Quick wash" (“Fast Mode”, “Fast 30”). Provides a shortened cycle for lightly soiled items, which saves time (the cycle takes 15 - 40 minutes), water, electricity and washing powder.
  • "Daily wash". Allows you to quickly (up to 40 minutes) wash lightly soiled everyday items. In this case, you can not fully load the drum and not pay attention to the color of the loaded items (the water temperature in this mode is 30 degrees).
  • "Economy wash". This mode is characterized by low temperature, reduced volume of water used and reduced electricity consumption. So that saving resources does not affect the quality of washing, the cycle time has been increased.
  • "Intensive wash". As the name implies, the mode turns on when it is necessary to wash heavily soiled items. The cycle is extended, the water temperature ranges from 60 to 90°C.
  • "Prewash". Allows you to remove old and stubborn dirt. The laundry is soaked with detergent at a temperature of 30°C for two hours. Then the main wash cycle starts.
  • “Hand wash” (“Delicate wash”). Simply a necessary mode when you need to carefully wash delicate items (the “Hand Wash Only” label). Its distinctive feature is that the drum sways rather than spins. Spinning occurs at low speed. This way, delicate items are not damaged during washing and spinning.
  • "Soft wool". Suitable for light and soft wool products. Thanks to the reduced drum rotation speed, woolen products do not crumple and do not lose their original appearance.
  • "Biophase" ("Bio-care"). Used to effectively remove biological contaminants using a detergent containing enzymes. Considering that high temperature destroys enzymes, washing occurs at 40°C.
  • "Stain removal" Provides removal of stubborn dirt stains from various types of fabrics with low water heating (up to 40°C).
  • "Heating to 90 degrees". Allows you to thoroughly wash contaminated items using high water temperature.
  • "Delicate drying". For use exclusively in washer-dryers.Used for drying thin and delicate laundry without damaging it.
  • "Accelerated drying". A mode unique to washer-dryers. It allows you to dry washed items within half an hour, but is only suitable for fabrics that are resistant to strong heat.
  • "Eco-program". Combines the advantages of the “Biophase” and “Intensive Wash” modes, which allows you to effectively wash very dirty things. Applicable only when using detergents containing enzymes. It takes place in two stages: first, at low temperatures, the detergent properties of enzymes are used, and then at high temperatures, the remaining detergent components of the detergent are used.

The most interesting functions of the washing machine

Washing machine functionsThe additional functionality of modern washing machines opens up a lot of new interesting opportunities for housewives. However, in order to freely navigate the abundance of washing equipment models, you need to understand what the advertised functions are.

  • "Automatic water level control." At the program level, the washing unit itself determines the volume of water that must be used to wash the loaded items. This allows you to optimize the time for heating water and, accordingly, reduce electrical energy consumption.
  • "No ironing." When activated, it blocks complete drainage of water, resulting in washed items with a minimum of wrinkles.
  • "More water." Ideal for washing curtains, bedspreads, double bed linen and other large pieces of fabric, as well as for thoroughly removing washing powder.
  • “Spin off.” Used when washing delicate laundry. By excluding the spin phase from the cycle, it avoids damage. The housewife removes excess water from washed items manually.
  • "Rinse delay". The water does not drain out after the last rinse, and the washed clothes remain soaked in the drum. The function is used when it is not possible to immediately remove the laundry after the end of the wash cycle. The water prevents the laundry from drying out in the drum and thus avoids wrinkles and wrinkles. Before removing laundry, you must perform a drain or spin cycle.
  • "Half Load". It is very convenient to use if there is not enough dirty laundry to fill a full load. When this function is activated, the cycle time is reduced and the load on the washing machine mechanisms is reduced.
  • "Extra rinse". Allows you to more thoroughly remove detergent residue from laundry. It is recommended to use this function for washing children's clothes. You can also use it for washing thick items. For example, blankets, jackets, etc.
