What is front loading washing machine

What is front loading washing machineSometimes when buying a washing machine or studying the parameters of a particular unit, the question arises: what is front loading of a washing machine? After all, buying a device without knowing exactly what its characteristics mean is very reckless. In this article we will try to answer the question posed.

Front loading machine

This is the most common type of washing machine. The hatch door is located on the front wall and is equipped with a round transparent window in which the contents of the drum are visible. However, there are devices in which the cover is located on the top wall. In this article we will look at the main characteristics of both types of devices and try to decide which one is better to buy for your home.

Of course, it may seem that a front-loading (that is, front-loading) machine is less safe than a top-loading washing machine. After all, the likelihood of a leak immediately becomes many times higher. However, this arrangement has many more advantages than disadvantages.

For example, people use the top wall of a front-loading machine as a shelf for containers with powder, laundry baskets, curling irons, hair dryers and other household devices that look organic there and don’t get in the way. Some people keep additional equipment for the washing machine there: capsules, filters, instructions, etc.

Important! In addition, there are many more front-loading units, which means there is a wider choice.

You can focus on price, brand, quality, weight and even color, and not take something on a residual basis. And repairing such machines is much easier.

Another advantage of front-facing machines is ease of installation in a small apartment. They are not very tall, so they can fit under other pieces of furniture. But you can’t put a vertical machine under the table, because otherwise you won’t be able to open it. Moreover, vertical machines are generally produced, as a rule, in a free-standing format. But the front camera can be built into furniture without difficulty. Thus, in fact, it will not require additional space at all if you plan everything correctly. But for a vertical machine you will have to allocate your own corner.

Top loading appliances

What is the difference between a front loading machine and a top loading machine? The dimensions of such machines are usually standard: 85 centimeters in height, 60-65 in depth and 40-45 in width. These are not the most massive parameters, and in general, the machine looks quite compact. However, this does not prevent downloading. As a rule, the drum holds the same amount of laundry as a front-loading machine: about 6-6.5 kilograms. First, let's outline the main disadvantages of this type of washing machine.

  1. Small opening for loading. Because of this, it will be extremely difficult to wash, for example, a heavy blanket or blanket in the machine, because after washing the item will become even heavier and bulkier and it will not be easy to get it through a narrow hole. Especially if the car is parked in a small bathroom, where you can’t turn around anyway, and then there are such difficulties.
  2. Powder containers cannot be removed. Therefore, it is almost impossible to wash them, while all front-facing machines do not have this problem at all.
  3. Price. For some reason, such models are quite expensive and financially much more difficult to maintain.

Now let's talk about the advantages. Unlike the hatch of the front-facing vehicle, the hatch of this model is not equipped with any special sealing materials, but is made much simpler, because there is no threat to the device from leaking from above. This means that if, for example, the rubber seal of a front washing machine comes off, you need to shell out a tidy sum to replace it, but in the case of a vertical washing machine you won’t have to do this.

Among the obvious advantages of this model is the ability to pause the wash and add a forgotten item to the drum, for example. In the case of a front camera, there is no way to do this, since you will have to drain the water and perform many other operations.
