Error F8 on the Atlant washing machine

error F8 for SM AtlantThe Belarusian manufacturer has produced a considerable number of models of Atlant washing machines that do not have a display. It is not so easy to determine the error code on them, but if your “home assistant” has a display, then you will be able to immediately identify the F8 code. In today's publication we will decipher the F8 error on the Atlant washing machine, see what problems can cause it, and of course, we will talk about finding and fixing these problems.

What problems does the code hide?

In order to start washing, the machine must open the valve, fill the tank with water, rinse off the powder, and then rotate the drum according to the specified program. But water is not drawn into the tank randomly, but strictly according to the level. A pressure switch controls the amount of water collected. So, if the machine takes in too much water or, on the contrary, too little, error code F8 will appear on the display of the Atlant washing machine. At first glance, the pressure switch alone is to blame, but in fact there are several reasons:

  • in the first place is the water level sensor;
  • in second place, oddly enough, is an incorrectly connected drain hose;
  • in third place is the filling valve.

We will need to check all this in the near future, but first we’ll try to reset the error, in case it’s just a short-term electronics failure. Turn off the washing machine and disconnect it completely by unplugging the plug from the socket. Next, through the emergency water drain hose, remove the soapy water from the tank.

The emergency water drain hose is located below, next to the drain filter of the Atlant washing machine.

After 20 minutes, start the washing machine again.If the code appears on the display again, it means that we are dealing with a breakdown and we need to start searching for it.

Let's check the drain hose

Troubleshooting should be done according to the following scheme: from simple to complex. There is no need to rush to disassemble the Atlant washing machine, piece by piece; perhaps the fault is hidden closer than you think. First of all, check how the machine is connected to the sewer, since it is the incorrect connection of the drain hose that often generates error code F8.

  1. The connection point for the CM drain hose should not be too high, but not lower than 50 cm from the floor, approximately at the level of the tank. If you connect the machine to the sewer too low or too high, a self-draining or “siphon effect” will occur. Water may be removed by gravity from the tank during washing, or even worse, it will flow from the sewer into the tank.

  2. Directly near the connection point of the drain hose, you need to arrange a bend. Why is this necessary? In order to make it difficult for dirty water and unpleasant odors to flow from the sewer into the CM tank.
  3. Check that the drain hose is not overstretched, kinked or kinked. If the connection of the machine to the sewer meets generally accepted standards, you can proceed to checking the parts of the “home assistant” for malfunctions.

The reason is the pressure switch

As promised, let's start by checking the pressure switch. The pressure switch tubes of many washing machines become clogged and for this reason begin to act up, so the first thing we will do is clean the water level sensor tube.pressure switch in SM

In order to find the part, remove the top cover of the Atlant washing machine. On most models, the level sensor is mounted on the outer part of the control module housing using special mounts.Let's look inside and see the pressure switch on the front wall right above. What to do next?

  1. Remove the pressure switch from its mountings.
  2. Disconnect the connector with the wires and the hose.
  3. Let's clean and blow out the hose and tube of the part.

The resistance of the working pressure switch coil is around 20 Ohms.

  1. Let's set up the multimeter and check the resistance of the coil contacts.
  2. Let's check the power supply wiring of the level sensor for breakdown.

If we can detect a malfunction, we replace the pressure switch with exactly the same one. You can purchase original components for the Atlant washing machine at your nearest specialized store.

It's worth checking the fill valve

It was not possible to detect a breakdown, so you need to check intake solenoid valve. It is located in the same place, under the top cover of the Atlant washing machine, only on the back wall, right behind the powder receiver box. First, disconnect the valve coil and check the contact resistance. In normal operating condition, the multimeter should show a resistance of 2-4 kOhm; if it shows much less or much more, it means the inlet valve is faulty and needs to be replaced.

If the intake valve coil is in order, do not rush to rejoice. It is quite possible that the flow filter is clogged and is now preventing water from entering the machine. The solution to the problem is cleaning the flow filter. First, unscrew the inlet hose from the machine body. At the junction there is a small plastic mesh inside the fitting. This is a flow filter. Carefully remove it and wash it from dirt. If the mesh is overgrown with limescale, you can soak it in a solution of citric acid and then wash it.

The fill valve may not function well even if its coil is working properly.In this case, this part will need to be replaced.

In some cases, the cause of the F8 error is the electronics, specifically the control module. The Atlant firmware often fails, so you can call a technician who will reset it or replace it for you. In extreme cases, the control module will need to be replaced, but the master will decide this. When dealing with electronics, doing it yourself can be disastrous, so in any case, entrust this matter to a professional.
