Error E1 - Samsung washing machine

error E1The E1 error in the Samsung washing machine can be a very unpleasant surprise, especially when the basket is full of dirty laundry, and the beloved "home assistant" does not want to wash. What to do in such a situation? Is it really necessary to get a bowl, powder for hand washing and a washing board? Let's not rush into this, first we will deal with the causes of the error, decipher it and try to fix the automatic washing machine with our own hands, and we will always be in time to return to the grandfathering methods of washing.

The moment this code appears

Strictly speaking, the E1 error may appear on the display or control panel of the Samsung washing machine at any stage of the washing program. There have been cases when it appeared immediately after turning on the washing machine, but this is rather an exception to the rule. Usually in 90-95% of cases, the E1 code appears at the following stages of the execution of the washing program:

  • during preparation for washing, when the washing machine begins to draw water and rinse the powder from the powder receptacle;
  • during preparation for rinsing, when the washer begins to clean water;
  • during rinsing, if your washing machine has this function.

To determine the E1 error on the control panel of the Samsung washing machine, which does not have a screen, you need to pay attention to the burning and flashing lights. If you see that the LED is lit opposite the inscription cold water, and the LEDs opposite the washing modes blink - this is error E1.

Let us also draw your attention to what point. Error E1 has many analogues. All due to the fact that different models of Samsung washers have different self-diagnosis systems with their own code system. In particular, codes 4E, 4C and CHE have a decoding similar to error E1. Moreover, 4E, 4C and CHE completely replaced the E1 error on the new Samsung washing machines, so that on machines manufactured after 2013, the E1 code basically does not occur.

What does it mean and why does it appear?

All error codes indicated by us, namely Е1, 4Е, 4С and ЧЕ are decrypted in exactly the same way - problems with the collection of water in the tank. At first glance it seems that everything is simple, however, there can be quite a lot of reasons for this “behavior” of the washing machine. Here, breakdowns, user errors, and commonplace short-term failures. Let us try to list these reasons and draw certain conclusions.

  1. There is no water in the tap. Samsung washing machine will not be able to draw water if it is not in the water supply. Utilities quite often turn off the water unexpectedly, so this may well coincide with the moment when you were about to wash.
  2. Water is shut off. It may also happen that you simply forget about the closed tee tap, which is usually installed in front of the inlet hose. In the article We select and install a tee crane for a washing machine You can read more about such cranes.
  3. Errors E1, 4E, 4C and CHE may indicate the activation of the Aquastop system, unless of course your Samsung washing machine is equipped with such a system. The vast majority of modern machines are equipped with such devices that protect against leaks, so you need to check them first.

To determine if your Samsung washing machine is equipped with a leakage protection system, take a look at its inlet hose. If it looks like the image below, then there is definitely protection.

samsung washing machine leakage hose

  1. Inlet valve filter clogged. In the inlet pipe of the inlet valve, to which the inlet hose is screwed, there is a small mesh. This net is often clogged due to calcareous deposits and other debris brought by water, and water oozes through this blockage very slowly. As a result, we see the error E1 or its analogues on the display.
  2. Short-term malfunction in the control module.Typically, this problem is solved by itself after rebooting the washer, and the E1 code crashes no more than 1-2 times and then does not appear anymore.
  3. The contacts are oxidized or the wiring supplying the inlet valve is burned out (frayed). Such a problem can cause not only an E1 error, but also a dangerous short circuit that threatens not only the washing machine, but also you.
  4. The inlet valve burned out. This malfunction is accompanied by error codes E1, 4E, 4C and European Championship also quite often. A burnt valve is not able to open and close, so an error in such cases flies to the display almost at the very beginning of the washing program.
  5. Serious problems with the electronics. If water gets onto the control module of the Samsung washing machine or it is exposed to a short circuit or a factory defect occurs, the machine can “swear” by any errors, including E1. To diagnose a problem with the electronic module, you need to contact a specialist.

Troubleshoot a problem

It remains for us to talk about ways and features of eliminating the most basic causes that give rise to the error E1 and its analogues. Let's start with the damaged Aquastop hose. The picture that we posted above clearly shows how to identify a damaged hose that has leakage protection. On its block there is a special indicator that shows whether the protection against leaks has worked or not. If the protection works, the hose must be replaced.

The intake valve strainer is also easy to clean. To start, we overlap the tee crane. We unscrew the inlet hose from the washing machine. From the junction of the hose and the body, we remove the filter mesh, put it for half an hour in a slurry of citric acid (2 tbsp.spoons of lemons + 3 tbsp.spoons of water), then rinse it with a stream of water and put it in place. We fasten the inlet hose and open the water, error E1 should then disappear.

If you have problems with the supply wires to the intake valve or to the intake valve itself, you will have to partially disassemble the Samsung washing machine to fix it. We completely disconnect the washing machine from communications, open the top cover and find the inlet valve under it. We check the wire going to it visually and with a multimeter. With the same device, we check the valve itself, if it is faulty, you need to replace it. You can read how to do this in the article. Intake solenoid valve for washing machine.

Finally, I would like to once again mention the malfunction of the control module. We, of course, hope that this trouble will bypass you, but if you still encounter a similar problem, do not try to do it yourself. If you are not an experienced electronic engineer, it is better to entrust this work to professionals, so as not to strain the family budget with an even more expensive repair.

In conclusion, we note that if you unexpectedly saw that your Samsung washing machine has stopped and does not want to work, and its display shows two E1 symbols, be aware that the washing machine cannot pour water into the tank. What is the reason for this, you have yet to figure it out, but we hope that this publication will facilitate the search for the problem and its solution. Good luck
