Do-it-yourself hose cleaning
To prevent or eliminate the malfunction, it becomes necessary to clean the drain hose in an automatic washing machine. It would seem that this is difficult - disconnect the hose and flush it with water.
However, everything is not so simple, because to remove it, you need to get to the connection point, which is located inside the machine. Here's how to do it and how to clean the drain hose, we will understand in detail.
Disconnect the hose
It would be simple if the hose in all models of washing machines disconnected the same way, but this is not so. Due to the peculiarities of the housing design and the method of fastening the drain pump, it will be necessary to get to the drainage hose in different ways. But before you begin to do this, you need:
- Disconnect the machine from the mains.
- Close the water tap.
- Drain through drain filter the remains of water.
- Disconnect the end of the drain hose from the siphon or sewer pipe.
Now having prepared a set of screwdrivers and pliers, let's proceed to disassemble the washing machine. In the models of cars Samsung, LG, Ariston, Whirpool, Indesit, Candy, Ardo, Beko, we will get to the hose through the bottom of the unit, for this you need:
- remove the bottom panel with a flat screwdriver;
- unscrew the bolts holding the filter;
- to put the washing machine on its side for convenience, while laying something under it;
- using pliers, unclip the clamp and disconnect the drain hose from the pump;
- disconnect the hose from the housing of the washing machine.
Note! In some models of washing machines LG, Ardo, Beko and others, the bottom may be missing, in some there is a special tray that will have to be unscrewed.
In automatic Zanussi and Electrolux machines, it is necessary to remove the back cover of the washing machine housing by following these steps:
- unfasten the drain hose from the housing by opening the holding latches;
- unscrew the water supply hose from the valve;
- from the back of the machine, unscrew the bolts holding the top cover of the case and remove it;
- unscrew the bolts holding it around the perimeter of the back cover and remove the cover;
- Release clamp on drain hose and remove.
In washing machines of German brands Bosch, Siemens, AEG, you need to get to the drainage hose through the front of the case. It is done like this:
- remove the clamp and sealing gum from the front of the case;
- pull the detergent tray out of the washing machine;
- remove the bottom panel of the case;
- unscrew the bolts under the panel;
- remove the hatch of the hatch door;
- remove the front cover of the case;
- unclip the clamp on the drain hose;
- pull out the hose.
All of the above methods of accessing the drain hose inside the washing machine housing concern models with front loading of laundry. If the machine has a vertical loading, then you can disconnect the drain hose from the pump only through the side panel. To do this, you need:
- unscrew the bolts holding the side panel;
- remove the panel;
- unclip the clamp on the drain hose;
- pull out the hose.
Drain hose cleaning
Now that the hose is disconnected, it can be thoroughly cleaned and inspected for defects. To clean the drain hose, you need to take a thin Kevlar cable, not metal. At the end of such a cable there is a small brush, thanks to which soapy deposits can be cleaned inside the hose. To gently clean the drain hose, follow these steps:
- insert the cable into the hose first in one direction then in the other;
- we take the first step several times;
- rinse the drainage hose under running water;
- fasten the hose to its original place;
- we assemble the washing machine, performing all the described steps for parsing in the reverse order.
For a greater cleaning effect, you can run a test washing mode with water heating up to 600C, pouring citric acid or Anti-scale, this will help to clean the machine from scale.
Causes of clogging and preventive measures
The clogged drainage hose of the washing machine is usually caused by natural causes. Mechanical clogging is not peculiar to him, because foreign objects (buttons, pins, coins) will not get into the drain hose, they will linger in the drain filter or in the pump. Drain hose clogging occurs naturally during operation. A soapy solution settles in it, possibly small fibers of wool, hair, and thread. To avoid this, it is recommended:
- Wash items in a laundry bag;
- Use water softeners;
- Conduct preventive descaling the washing machine;
- Use only those powders that are designed for automatic washing;
- Check clothing pockets before washing for small items (seeds, pieces of paper, etc.).
So, you can clean the drain hose from clogging in the LG, Bosch or any other washing machine yourself. The main thing is to follow the instructions. During the repair process, you can record your actions on the camera, this will help you do not get confused when collecting the machine. Have a good repair!
