Use brightly colored cotton scraps for sewing (cotton is easier to work with). This color will set you in a festive mood. You can sew a bag in different ways - it all depends on the material you have. If the scraps are small, you can assemble part of the product from squares and triangles. First you need to decide on the size of the product you want to receive. Based on this, select the required number of flaps. Use contrasting combinations: red, white green (traditional New Year's), yellow and blue or purple.

You can sew either by machine or by hand, the main thing is to carefully seal the seam cuts. The lining can also serve this purpose if you do not want to design your pouch double, as in this case. For our product, rags of matching colors were taken.
We sew them on a machine, stepping back from the edge by 5-7 mm.
Turn it inside out and iron it.On the lower solid half you can embroider words (for a New Year's gift - a name), figures, silhouettes of animals and birds, simply by machine or hand stitching.
Make a preliminary sketch using a sharp piece of soap. Next, fold the bag right side up and machine sew the side seam. Trim the cut with scissors and turn the work inside out. Now you can make the main seam, starting from the bottom, then move to the side seam. Then topstitch. Carefully seal the ends of the seams (tie a knot if your machine does not have a reverse stitch). To tie, cut a strip of fabric 3 - 4 cm wide.
Sew lengthwise, turn inside out and iron. You can tie knots at the ends. All is ready.
If you have a twisted silk cord of sufficient length, you can make a more interesting tie. To do this, take two pieces of cord, the length of which is equal to the perimeter of the bag plus 10-15 cm. In the drawstring stitched along the top of the product, cut two small holes on the sides. Thread the cords so that their ends come out opposite each other, tie the ends into a knot or leave them hanging freely, tying each with a knot so that they do not unravel. This tie is convenient for repeated easy access to the contents of your pouch.
