We often throw away things that seem absolutely useless to us. But sometimes even out of nothing you can make something original - to the delight of children and adults. Many people have leftover foam rubber at home that sits and collects dust. Let's try to make something original out of them. And if not, then any housewife will have dish sponges - let’s find another use for them.
Now I will tell you how to make a soft pig, a Christmas tree toy “butterfly”, simple insert frames and a set for appliqués from foam rubber.
For work we will need the following materials: foam rubber of different colors, buttons, scissors, a stationery knife, sewing threads, a hot-melt gun with glue, geometric shapes cut out of cardboard, a sketchbook, a pencil, PVA glue, a brush.

Foam toys

Let's get to work. Pig:
1. For this toy, we take two smooth foam circles as a basis. If you do not have foam rubber of this shape, then cut it out with ordinary scissors or a stationery knife. At the attachment point we create a wide surface for gluing. To do this, cut off part of the circle with scissors. Glue using a heat gun. At the junction of the parts of the toy, we squeeze in a horizontal plane for 1-2 minutes; there is no need to apply pressure from above.

2. Cut out ears, paws and legs from foam rubber of the same color. We make the fastening places slightly rounded.

3. Glue the body parts to the body, glue on the eyes using green buttons.

4. You can stop here, but you can still make a mouth out of a red button - it’s more realistic.

The pig is ready, you can play.
Now I will tell you how to make a butterfly from foam rubber:
1. Carefully remove the bottom rough layer from the foam sponges. Cut each sponge diagonally into two triangles. From black foam rubber we cut out a long rectangle for the body and two thin rectangles for the antennae.

2. Stepping back a little from the upper edge of the body, we tie it with black sewing thread. This will be the head. The ends of the threads should be moderately long. With their help, the toy can be hung on the Christmas tree.

3. Glue all the elements with a heat gun and get a finished butterfly. Fast and graceful!

You need very little to make your baby’s first frame-inserts: using cardboard blanks, we cut out holes in the foam rubber. That's it, by inserting a circle or triangle into the holes, the child will occupy himself for a while, and you can relax a little.

And finally, I’ll tell you how to make an applique kit from foam rubber. To do this, you need to cut all the remaining foam rubber into various shapes or just as it turns out.

These pieces will need to be used for appliqué, having first sketched a design on a sheet of paper and smeared the objects with glue. This activity is not only exciting. It will allow you to develop fine motor skills, study geometric shapes and colors, and simply brighten up your usual way of life.
All the best to you and creative success!
