From the very beginning, it should be noted: this method is suitable for shoes in almost “throwaway” condition; as a result, they will not become “as good as new.” However, sometimes there are situations when you urgently need to “reanimate” shoes collecting dust in the closet.

Rescuing old sandals

So, we need glue (I used “Dragon”, it hardens quickly and is universal, but any shoe glue will do), as well as some thin “better than lining” fabric of a suitable color.

First you need to clean the sandals, paying special attention to those areas where you plan to make “patches”. In our case, we needed to glue the heel; to do this, coat the loose strip with glue and press it tightly. To get rid of trapped air and excess glue, run your finger several times, then fix the strip by tightly tying the heel with thread. Leave until the glue dries.

Now it's time for the patches. Shapes are cut out of the prepared fabric, repeating the shape of the heel (don’t forget about the grooves), and applied to a surface greased with glue. Speed is very important, since everything hardens quickly: you need to have time to smooth out the folds and place the “patches” correctly. The tissue that extends beyond the edge is removed using a blade.

So, the sandals now look quite decent and are suitable for a single outing, for example, a costume party.

It’s amazing how you “reanimated” them, although, of course, they don’t look like new). I wear my shoes very carefully, sometimes I throw away ones that are still quite decent, but I really understand that I won’t wear them again. And I certainly wouldn’t keep such shoes.

For a single appearance, you could simply cover the heels with black paint. I agree with the previous commentator - shoes of this condition (without heels, all with worn suede and with the same worn insoles, with heels in such a deplorable condition) are usually thrown away. Or, in the case of a particularly comfortable last, such shoes are taken to a workshop, where the heels are simply replaced with new ones and the shoes are again suitable for constant, rather than one-time wear. ;)
