Where to hang it.
The feeder must be hung so that it and the neighboring trees or bushes can be seen from the window. You can watch birds from a warm room at any convenient time. It will be easy for you to figure out when you need to replenish supplies for the bird banquet. Make a list of “guests”, take a closer look at what types of birds prefer what food, when they arrive, and how they behave with their neighbors.
What to make it from.
Feeders can be different: a board on a stand, a milk carton with cut-out windows suspended on a branch, a square piece of plywood, cardboard or plastic, suspended at the corners. You should not set up a dining room for birds on the balcony, porch or windowsill: birds are not very well-mannered and often leave droppings where they eat. Adults may not appreciate your efforts. Keep in mind that your cat or your neighbor’s cat will come here, and instead of eating, the birds will fall into the clutches of a predator.
What to feed.
Birds happily eat grains, seeds and fruits, dried edible berries and pieces of fruit, crumbs of bread and rolls, pieces of dried cheese, boiled potatoes and other vegetables, boiled rice, and table crumbs.
Water.
Water is also necessary for birds, and getting it in frosty weather is not easy. Please use a flat container for birds. Your reward will be a large number and variety of feathered friends.
