The tools you need to have are a small flat-head screwdriver and a utility knife or scissors. The handle is made from a plastic bottle, it is better to take one with a maximum wall thickness, from Coca-Cola, for example.
Making a pen
Remove the screen from the window and place it on a flat surface. It is desirable that it has an emphasis along the entire perimeter; the mesh frame cannot withstand heavy bending loads.
Using a small flat-head screwdriver, carefully pry up the sealing cord, remove it from the groove and remove the old handle.
Work slowly to avoid damaging the protective coating of the net frame or tearing the rubber seal.
Important. Pull out more cord, about 5 cm.The fact is that the handle needs to be placed in a different place; in the old one, the seal has lost its plasticity and will not be able to hold the element with sufficient reliability.
Decide on the new location of the handle; it is recommended to move it a few centimeters up or down.
Cut a strip from the bottle about 1 cm wide and about 5 cm long. The dimensions are approximate, adjust them so that it is convenient to use the handle.
Fold the strip in half, place a loop on the knuckle of your finger and slide both ends under the cord.
Make sure that the mesh itself does not move away from the frame, but protrudes 2–3 mm beyond the seal. Otherwise, when you pinch the cord, it will move away and a gap will appear.
Check the diameter of the loop with your finger; the phalanx should fit into it freely. The handle is almost ready, all that remains is to fix it in a special groove in the frame. The seal is first pressed in by hand and it fits in freely. You should use a screwdriver at the place where the handle is installed - the pressing force increases, you need to bend the strip. Work carefully to avoid damaging the cord.
Check the position of the new handle, everything is fine - cut off the excess with scissors or a knife.
As you can see, everything took a couple of minutes, and the functionality of the mosquito net was completely restored. Another plus is that if there are children in the apartment, then the handles can be installed in places inaccessible to them. In addition, it is much more convenient to use than the factory one. If you want to make it invisible, use a transparent bottle; it’s difficult to find a pen in the evening, take colored ones.
