A universal garden tool with which you can remove weeds, plant or transplant any plant

Work in the country, in the garden or in the garden can not be called easy. Therefore, interest in rational ways of doing things and devices that facilitate and accelerate labor does not wane. Today we will consider a way to make a simple hand-made tool with your own hands, with which you can easily remove weeds, transplant plants, plant seeds and much more.

You will need:

  • a piece of an old 50-mm section of a metal pipe;
  • two metal pipes 25-30 mm in diameter and 1 m long;
  • sheet of paper, ruler, pencil and glue;
  • bench vise;
  • Bulgarian;
  • a small steel strip 4-5 mm thick and 200 mm long;
  • drill with a drill;
  • a set of M6 bolt, two washers and a nut;
  • welding machine.

Hand Tool Manufacturing Process

To make working bodies out of a pipe, we cut out a 150 by 95 mm format from a sheet of paper, a kind of pattern. From the corners of the smaller side of the format to the center of the opposite side, draw straight lines. Patterns should be two.

We put glue on the back side of the sheet and gently glue it on the pipe surface, precisely combining the short side of the sheet with the pipe end, which should be strictly perpendicular to its longitudinal axis.

We clamp the pipe with a glued pattern in a bench vise and use the grinder to cut along the lines on paper. We turn the pipe 180 degrees and repeat the exact same operation on the other side of the pipe.

As a result, two wedges with cylindrical surfaces are formed at the end of the pipe. We cut them off with the help of the same grinder from the rest of the pipe piece along the section normal to the pipe axis at their very base. This is how the working bodies of our homemade product look.

Now we take two identical metal pipes of smaller diameter and about one meter long. On each of them from one end we make a cutout in diameter of 30-35 mm in length.

In these cutouts, we install the working bodies of the future uproot-seater with a convex side down in the longitudinal direction so that their base is in contact with the end of the cut, and the axis coincides with the longitudinal axis of the pipe.

In this position, we connect these parts of the tool with each other using the welding process from the back.
From the sheet metal we cut two plates measuring 35 by 80 mm, one short side of which should be cut at an angle of 15-20 degrees, and the other rounded. From the rounded side closer to the edge in the center of the plates, we drill holes with a diameter of 6.5 mm using a drill.

We fasten the plates together using the M6 bolt, two washers and a nut. The plates should easily rotate relative to each other in one and the other side around the bolt rod as an axis.

We weld the hinge at a distance of 250 mm from the top of the working bodies of the uprooter to the handles so that the tubular “peaks” can close tightly when the top of the handles is pulled apart and open when they are brought together.

The use of homemade in business

First, we use the device as a root weed, as was intended.To do this, hold the handles approximately parallel to each other and stick in slightly diluted working bodies on both sides of the weed and press the hinge with the foot, deepening the tool.

We push the handles apart, while the grips in the ground move and squeeze the bottom of the weed and roots. We lift the device up and take out the weed from the ground along with the roots. The more massive the plant, the more it is necessary to shift the handles before deepening the working bodies of our uprooter into the ground.
But it turned out that our homemade product can be used for another purpose. It can also be used for making holes in the ground and planting seeds of various plants.

To do this, we spread the handles as much as possible, and introduce the closed working bodies into the ground to the required depth. Then we slightly bring the handles together so that the “peaks” diverge a little, and lower the seed (planting material) into the depression between them. We take out the working bodies of the device from the ground and fill the hole with them.
Also, the device can easily transplant small plants. You may be able to find other ways to use our homemade products.
