Manufacturing
The first step is to connect 3 zip ties to get a device long enough to reach hard-to-reach drain areas. To do this, the end of one clamp is inserted into the lock of the other.
You need to make notches on the bottom tie of the resulting chain, as in the photo. They are applied on both sides at an angle of 30-45 degrees. The depth of the cuts should not exceed more than half the width of the clamp so that it does not break or come off.In the absence of good wire cutters, cuts can also be made with the blade of a mounting knife.
The resulting notches need to be bent to the side to get protruding spines. In this case, the right spikes bend in one direction, and the left ones in the opposite direction.
How to use
Before using the device, it is better to wear household or medical gloves. The device is lowered into the drain with the side with the spikes. Having reached the required depth, where the passage of the tool becomes difficult, they need to be moved in a circular motion, as well as immersed and removed with a small amplitude. The spikes of the device, clinging to the hair in the drain, take it with them, so after removing the tool, clogged shreds will remain on it.
Periodically, the ties need to be pulled out and cleaned. Each time, they should be immersed deeper and deeper to capture as much hair as possible from the clog. After catching all the pieces, you should check how much the water drainage rate has improved. The tool itself can be thrown in the trash, since if you need to clean the sink again, you can easily make other hooks. Typically, zip ties are sold in packs of 100 pieces and cost pennies, so it will take years to clear blockages without repeated costs. If you don’t want to manually remove pieces of thorns, you can spend more time making several devices and use a new one after one becomes clogged.
