» »An easy way to get rid of dirt sticking on fenders and sills
With the advent of winter, a number of unpleasant surprises associated with this wonderful season are waiting for all motorists. One of such annoying troubles is the constant sticking of mud mixed with snow on wings and rapids.
A simple way to get rid of dirt sticking on fenders and sills.

Such “stucco molding” freezes and turns into a piece of ice, which can prevent not only the rotation of the wheel, but also its rotation. Moreover, this adhering dirt most likely (and in large cities 100%) contains reagents and salts that can cause permanent damage to the body of your car, as a result of which it will more likely begin to rot and rust from below.
Therefore, it is recommended that the surfaces of the wing liner and sills be cleaned of frost and dirt in a timely manner. Of course, you can often wash the car, but such “surprises” can stick to literally in one trip.

How to prevent sticking?

There is one very good way to protect your car from snow sticking to wings and sills. Somehow, one experienced driver prompted me to him, for which many thanks to him!
Its essence is incredibly simple:
To prevent snow from sticking, it is necessary to treat the wing flaps and sills with silicone grease - from the spray. Or in view of its absence, the WD-40 is perfect.

As a result, a protective film forms on the surface, which prevents the retention of water or snow.

It is necessary to do the treatment on a clean and dry surface! It is recommended to apply grease after washing, as the machine dries. Then after application, you should still wait until the grease has dried, and only then you can go.

Now many car washes provide services for spraying silicone seals on the doors with silicone grease, you can ask them to sprinkle sills and wings. As a matter of fact, I do. My car is where 1-2 times a month, all this time the coating layer is quite acceptable and protects the thresholds with Lockers.
Here is such a sensible, and most importantly 100% working advice! Take and use.

Cool! But nonsense! Since immediately after washing in winter a new layer of snow will stick or these places will become dirty!

It’s cheaper to drop by a sink than to spray the VD-40 on the fenders! This is if the author does not know how much the VD-40 and the washing cost.

VD-40 will be a little expensive. Why waste money? Motor oil / working off / - free and angry, if so very necessary. so that the snow does not stick

Accumulated snow is an excellent protection against sandblasting from under the wheels, so I do not advise you to bring down ice and snow, the rapids will live longer.

Complete nonsense, did you try it yourself? If it sticks to weather conditions, it sticks, regardless of what it splashes. I checked it myself. Use lubricant as intended.

To whom it is, but I have a self-service car wash, a hundred meters from my GSK. Almost every time I put the car in the garage, I drop in there and for 100-150 (if with shampoo) rubles my car. Pennies, but the car is clean, without adhering snow and salt

Perhaps it will help by 20-30%, but wait after drying to dry for applying VEDESHKI ???? I usually leave after washing and wait 10-15 minutes, freezes and dries up and so on until the next wash ....

I process Movil thicker. It turns out average. It sticks, but not much, and most importantly does not rust.

WD-40 is a mixture of mineral oil and kerosene. It was made to protect steel parts from corrosion during transportation. Kerosene allows the mixture to penetrate well. If you need to unscrew something, then WD will help. But this is not a lubricant, as it has great fluidity. It does not dry out as the author writes, kerosene does not evaporate well, and the oil remains liquid for a long time. And certainly you should not apply it from ice. It is worth remembering that kerosene burns well, do not splash in the direction of a hot engine and exhaust manifold.

WD-40 will penetrate into micro cracks and destroy the paintwork; besides, the effect will not be such unless you drive from the sink to the house
