Removing marks with new tape
This cleaning method works on the wedge by wedge principle. You need to glue fresh tape to the surface with the marks and quickly tear it off. Often the old glue comes off the first time, sometimes you have to repeat the procedure several times. This removal method is suitable if you need to remove very few stains on plastic. As for cleaning glass, this method may be successful, but only if the original tape was less sticky than the one used for cleaning.
Oil dissolution
Almost any vegetable oil can dissolve traces of tape. It can be essential, sunflower, olive or any pharmaceutical oil.This method is one of the most effective and can be used on absolutely any surface, be it metal, plastic or glass. The contaminated area is rubbed with oil and left for 10-15 minutes. Oil and glue are completely incompatible, so the latter begins to foam and come off. Thanks to this, it can be erased with little effort. The only drawback of the method is that you will have to wash the surface later to remove grease, but this will be easier.
Using oil, you can even tear off old tape, which breaks into thin ribbons when you try to remove it. You need to saturate the tape along the edges, then slowly tear it off little by little, periodically adding oil to the exposed areas.
Removing stains with pharmaceutical alcohol
This is a great way to remove tape marks on painted and glass surfaces. You need to moisten a cotton swab in pharmaceutical alcohol and wipe the area with adhesive from the tape. This method allows you to remove marks much faster, since the alcohol immediately dissolves the glue. In some cases, this method can also be used to clean plastic. However, certain types of polymers dissolve upon contact with alcohol. It's best to try a small area of plastic in an inconspicuous area first to see if the surface or color dissolves completely.
Washing off with glass cleaner
Many window cleaning chemicals are able to penetrate the adhesive structure and make it easier to erase. The disadvantage of this method is that the cleaning product was not originally intended for this purpose, so when purchasing it, you will not be able to read on the label whether this composition will work on adhesive tape or not.
Wash cleaning for motorcycle chains
Very quickly, traces of adhesive tape are dissolved by the product used to wash a motorcycle chain. Unfortunately, even the cheapest products are too expensive to buy specifically for removing duct tape marks. This method is suitable for those who own a motorcycle and use such chemistry. It only takes a couple of drops of rinsing to remove stains. When using this method, you must avoid treating painted metal surfaces, since such chemicals can often dissolve the paint.
Using any of the proposed methods for cleaning traces of adhesive tape, you can greatly facilitate and speed up this process. Most of the products that can be used are always on hand, so there is no need to buy anything special.
