How to restore a broken hole for a chipboard screw

This problem occurs very, very often in everyday life. For example, you should accidentally overdo it a bit when opening the door, say, a cabinet and then a screw breaks out of wood. Screwing it in again is not exactly possible, since the hole is completely broken. Particleboard crumbled and a small funnel formed after a torn screw. There is certainly no way out of this situation.
For repair we need: wooden chopik or pastry. It is done in five minutes from a wooden battens. If round - just cut, and if square - with a penknife cut off the edges, giving a cylindrical shape.

Restore the hole

First of all, measure the thickness of the chipboard. Next, we take a drill on a tree and set either a stop or a mark on it to make a hole of a certain depth. If the thickness of the material is, say, 9 mm, then you need to drill to a depth of not more than 7 mm. The thickness of the drill is also individually selected, everything depends on the diameter of the screw-in screw and the nature of the damage. I took a 5 mm drill.
Carefully drill a blind hole.

Naturally, the chopik should be pre-fitted for this hole in diameter and length. Carefully drive it into the hole.

We are waiting for the glue to dry. Next, we drill a hole for the screw, so that when tightening there is less internal stress, since the chopped chip is made of a single piece of wood and will easily burst or crack with excessive pressure.

I always planted caps on epoxy, much more reliable than PVA.

Who is the “chepik”? from the word "scoop"? or "nonsense"? There is a word "chopik", probably he had an afftar in mind, but the consequences of the exam are affecting.

It is possible to plant a chopik on PVA, but it is more reliable on epoxy, especially when repairing a fiberboard plate. Anyway, the article is useful, it can be useful to someone.

Thoroughly mix the epoxy with sawdust until a thick paste is obtained. With a wide mounting tape, glue the defect and cut a hole in the tape through which we will fill the defect. Apply a small amount of clean resin on the walls and bottom of the defect with a clove or thin awl. Wait a bit for the resin to absorb. Then with a spatula, with good pressure, rub epoxy resin with sawdust into the defect. Remove excess with a spatula or blade. After the resin hardens, if necessary, the restoration site can be sanded and then the mounting tape removed. Then you can drill under the screw or simply screw it in (screwed on and held on with a bang).
