A similar nuisance happens quite often to everyone who uses devices with batteries. Most often, batteries leak in TV remote controls. This defect is very common in cheap salt cells, which, according to the stated characteristics, are used for quite a long time, although they usually do not last even half their service life. Although there are quite cases when quite expensive brands are guilty of this. As a result, part of the battery compartment is filled with electrolyte, and the contacts connected to the cells are oxidized.
Well, oh well, if you have already found yourself in a similar situation, then you should not despair - everything can be fixed.

Will need

Cleaning Contacts After Battery Leaks

Let's start cleaning contacts

So, open the battery compartment and take out the batteries. You cannot simply throw them away with household waste. Therefore, pack them in a plastic bag or other container and take them to reception places; they are in every city.
In all your manipulations, it is highly advisable to use safety glasses and gloves, since the liquid leaking from the batteries is acid or alkali, depending on the type of element. If it gets on your skin or eyes, it will definitely cause a burn, so take care of protection in advance.
Next, take a glass container and pour 20 ml of vinegar into it. Add half a teaspoon of soda.
If there is a lot of liquid spilled from the batteries, first collect it with a paper napkin. Then we wet a cotton pad with the solution and wipe all the places where the electrolyte got in. This solution neutralizes the effects of both acid and alkali.

You should not get the battery compartment too wet - the solution may get through the cracks into the inside of the device, which is definitely not advisable.
We wipe the contacts with a cotton swab repeatedly. Then you can sand them with a piece of wool.

When soda interacts with vinegar, salt, water and carbon dioxide are formed. The formula for this chemical reaction looks like this: Na2CO3 + 2 CH3-COOH = 2 CH3-COONa + H2O + CO2.
    Na2CO3 is soda,
2 CH3-COOH are two molecules of soda,
2 CH3-COONa is two molecules of the salt “Sodium Acetate” (sodium salt of acetic acid).
You can just as easily rinse it with plain water :)))

Have you thought about the fact that acetic acid will react with soda first? This is not for you to mix socks. Do not mislead people.

Vinegar = acid and soda = alkali already neutralize each other! No need to mix them. Just wipe them one by one, starting with the opposite chemical, then with a damp cloth, then dry, then dry with a hairdryer😊
