How to just pull a pole out of the ground

This is a great way to remove a pole with a concrete base without much effort. This method can be quite suitable not only for wooden, but also for steel poles. To save your strength and create a powerful pulling force, a car jack will be applied.

We take out the pillar together with the concrete base

We cut the pole, leaving it about a meter high. To do this, of course, is not necessary, but in the future it will be more convenient to work with a part that will be removed from the ground.

From the sawn-off part, we cut a bar and drill two holes in it.

With a clamp, temporarily attach a block to the post.

Through the same holes we continue to drill the pillar itself. Of course, everything can be drilled at a time, but it may not be very convenient.

Next, hammer studs on wood, or long bolts.

From a thick board we prepare the base for supporting the jacks. The support should rest on free ground, at some distance from the concrete base.

We put the beam. It must be reliable and withstand considerable effort without strong deflection.

We put the jack and rest it on the screwed block.

As the column exits the ground, we place the bars, since the stroke of the jack at one time is not enough.

Reduce the jack, repeat the procedure.

You can see how the pillar comes out. Next we add more bars.

As soon as a large half of the concrete base has come out of the ground, the pillar can be thrown to one side.

That's all. A lot of power and time was not needed here.

After the pillar there was one fairly equal groove, which, by the way, can be reused.

The simple method of uprooting fence posts without undue effort I personally liked very much.
As for steel structures, the steps are the same, except that instead of drilling and bolts, welding can be used.
As you can see in this example, the concrete base has the form of a cone, which greatly facilitated the task. If the base is made a step with an increase to the bottom, then this method is also quite suitable. Except that in this case the pole will have to be pulled out to the very end.

A long method, it is much faster to pull out a pole with a steel sling (made for a stranglehold) and a crowbar.

And I just made a twist of 6 mm wire, pulled the crowbar obliquely through it, which at one end rested on a stone lying next to the pole and, without straining, pulled out a pole. It is important to observe the effective ratio of the two levers in order to pull out the pole with little effort.

He pulled out iron poles from the old fence (pipes, corners). Used a bottle jack and a wedge. Wedge can be cut out from a large log. The wedge tied enough to the pole with a piece of rope a meter and a half long, so that the rope without a wedge could freely slide along the pole. Under the jack is a piece of board. Further, it all depends on how deep these posts were crammed into. Intercepting the wedge system 4–5 times, the jack post freely left the ground.

Well eklmn. The idea is certainly interesting. It is dreary only. And if a lot of poles need to be pulled out? I changed the fence and pulled out old columns simply-poured water into the pit under pressure and rocked the pillar. But without turning off the water together with my wife using a crowbar and a long drive belt, calmly pulled the pillar out of the ground ...

I pulled out such posts in a minute with a crowbar, holes in the pillar and a pair of logs for the lever.

There is much easier way. We need a 4 meter pipe, preferably a strong rope or rope + something to support (stone, logs, etc.), but not less than 25 cm high. We put the pipe to the "post. The small end of the pipe extends beyond the axis of the post. Pipe" we attach it to the “pole” with an eight, the distance should be about 1/3 of the height of the support from the surface. The pipe must be strong and at least 70 mm in diameter, otherwise it will bend. Under the long end of the pipe, closer to the “column” we substitute the support and long push the end down. The tighter the pipe will be attached to the "pole", the better. May be needed repeatedly e repetition of the operation, but jacks and stuff are not needed, work can be done in simple, "field" conditions, with improvised means.

this summer he pulled out rusted pipes and corners in the country house, some of them sticking out of the ground by only a dozen cm. With a garden drill, you make a new hole along the pillar, then swing the post using it and pull it out. everything happened quite easily and quickly.

Pulling out the pole with a jack, crane, lever - easy! I pulled out the poles filled with concrete with my hands - it is enough to saturate the ground around the pillar with water and swing it - the pole will come out with the concrete and it can be reinstalled !!!

When a mortgage in the form of an inverted letter T is welded to the metal pole from the bottom, then no jack will help.

in the presence of a jack, I agree. and the hole does not expand and you do not waste strength. and if there is no jack? beat (screw 5 steel) horizontally a bar, use a crowbar to hammer a couple of times into a glass, until it cracked, swing and pull. cheap and cheerful.True, then manually get the concrete, but this is not long.
