How to get distilled water at home

If you have an air humidifier, a steam squeegee, an iron with a steamer, or similar equipment at home, then you know that they need clean, and best distilled water, since water from the tap in such devices creates scale and they fail.
By distillation is meant the conversion of water into steam, which, during cooling, condenses into pure H2O without additional impurities. Today I will tell you how I put together a simple but reliable distiller for distilled water in my own kitchen.

What is required

I used the following materials:
  • Two cans under the screw cap.
  • Two caps and a take-out coffee tube.
  • Screw rings on the jar, but two ordinary screw caps will do.

  • Flexible tube for connecting two containers.

Additionally, you need a pan or other container for boiling water in a steam bath, as well as for cooling a second can of condensate.
From the tools you will need:
Knife or hacksaw with small teeth.
Hot glue gun.

Distiller assembly

I had two rings that are used to wind on a jar, I used them to fix the lids. If there are no such rings, the fixing rings can be made independently by cutting the upper part from the usual cover.
From the cocktail tube I cut two small pieces about 5 cm long each. I put a flexible tube on them: I used the tube for the aquarium, since it is ideally suited in diameter and a tight connection is obtained. He glued a gap in the lid with hot glue. It turned out firmly and tightly.

Then immediately put on two locking rings, directed by twisting in different directions.

Then he assembled the same design from the other end of the flexible tube, poured water from the tap into one of the cans and twisted the lids. Here is such a design.

Distillation

To cool the steam, he placed an empty jar in a glass decanter so that you could pour cold water or pour ice there.

He placed the jar of water to be heated in the pan, poured water into it and put it on the burner of the stove.

When the water in the first bank was heated, water vapor began to form, which entered the second tank through the tube, where it condensed into pure distilled water.

It turned out very slowly, since the water in the pan was boiling stronger than the liquid evaporated in the jar. Here I realized my mistake: it was not necessary to use a glass jar heated in a water bath, but a metal container that could be put directly on the burner to quickly get a large amount of steam.
I hope my experience will help you make a practical distiller for your home and prevent some mistakes.

maybe it was easier to pull one end of the tube over the tip of the teapot spout =)

The easiest way to get distilled water is to get it from a domestic air conditioner. Find a conditioner dripping on the street and figure out how to direct life-giving moisture into the container you need. ALL!
The only negative - it works only in the summer, when the conders are turned on;)

It’s easier to buy (make) a UNIQUE DEVICE - it will provide these functions!

This water will become "golden" if you calculate the cost of gas (electricity)

but just go and buy at the pharmacy? Although as a service engineer with almost 30 years of experience, I would not recommend the use of distilled, boiled or after filter water. Just more often you need to clean the devices from scale.
