How to install a fence post for centuries

Hello! I want to show how to properly install the posts for the fence, since there is not much information on the Internet. If you set up posts using this technology, then your fence will be strong, even, and most importantly it will stand for a very long time. The method provides complete stability and stability as a result of upward movement of the soil, protects against rising due to changes in natural seasons and temperatures.

Fence post installation

Prepare the post. This is a profile pipe 50x50, with a wall thickness of 3 mm. When choosing it, in no case should you save money, since this is the main pillar of the future fence.
How to install a fence post for centuries

The length of the pipe is 3.5 meters.

In that part of the pipe that will be in the ground, it is necessary to make a rectangular cutout with a grinder. The sizes are arbitrary: from the edge of 12 cm and the length of the cutout 12 cm. It is done so that the cement penetrates into the pipe, hardens and becomes one. Due to this, it will be impossible to separate the pillar from the frozen block of cement.

Then we prepare the well for filling and installation.
How to install a fence post for centuries

The well must be deep. We insert the pipe, make a notch.

Next, measure with a tape measure, it turns out about 156 cm.

Now we measure from the mark to a depth of 70 cm and make a note with a white electrical tape for clarity.

To prevent the pillar from bulging in the winter, concreting must be done in two diameters.
How to install a fence post for centuries

These two diameters will be set using a drill with a diameter of 18 cm (lower diameter):
How to install a fence post for centuries

And PVC pipe 110 cm (top diameter):
How to install a fence post for centuries

That is, up to the mark with a white tape from the bottom, concreting with a diameter of 18 cm will be made.

And then a plastic pipe is put on the profile and concreted after the mark with a diameter of 11 cm.
How to install a fence post for centuries

The outer part around the plastic pipe will be covered with sand and gravel.
At the final stage, the fence post will have the following appearance:

Before proceeding with the installation of the column, it is necessary to remove water from the well, which appeared there more likely. This can be done with the help of a simple device.
How to install a fence post for centuries

This is an ordinary plastic bottle with a side cut and dressed on a long aluminum pole.
How to install a fence post for centuries

Now you need to pull the string to align the posts with each other. It is imperative to pull on top, not down, as is usually the case.
How to install a fence post for centuries

We stretch from one corner post to another. And if the string sags, we make additional stops and pass the string through the welded nuts.
How to install a fence post for centuries

This string also sets the place for drilling. We make a plumb line and determine the place.

We expose the column along the string, and its straightness is set using the level from two planes.

How to install a fence post for centuries

We proceed to concreting, knead the solution. If there is a lot of water in the well, then the first lots of concrete should not be made too liquid.
How to install a fence post for centuries

After each filled portion of concrete, we compact it. This can be done with an ordinary long wooden stick.

How to install a fence post for centuries

After 2-3 servings of the solution, you should already try to align the column.
How to install a fence post for centuries

And when the distance of the flooded mass reached the mark, it was time to put on a plastic pipe.
How to install a fence post for centuries

The PVC pipe should be placed evenly so that the profile is in the center of it. At the same time, pay your attention to the difference in diameters.
How to install a fence post for centuries

For convenient pouring, I recommend making such a gutter for supplying the solution.
How to install a fence post for centuries

And the outer space around the pillar is covered with sand and gravel.
How to install a fence post for centuries

It is not necessary to add concrete to the edges, since it will rise early in the hardening process.
How to install a fence post for centuries

A cement slurry is also poured into the pillar in portions. And to make it convenient for them to fill the pipe, use the neck of a five-liter bottle.
How to install a fence post for centuries

Insert the neck and fill the concrete.
How to install a fence post for centuries

The pillar should be clearly in line.
How to install a fence post for centuries

The perfect sturdy fence post is ready!
How to install a fence post for centuries

This technology is much more complicated than usual, but it has a number of the most important advantages, in view of which I recommend using this method of installing posts.

Nonsense. In the Moscow region, such pillars will be lying in the spring. squeeze them out.
    do not do so.

About the extrusion of pillars due to the expansion of moist soil, read the comment of June 9, 15:58!
This technology allows to MAXIMIZE EXTENDING + protection of the bottom of the column most susceptible to corrosion due to possible contact with the ground, grass, etc., which eventually appear at the base of the column preventing the evaporation of moisture.

Absolute nonsense. It is necessary to drill two meters, and fill the pillar with coarse sand or small gravel. And that’s it.

The purpose of the PVC pipe is not clear, I would have poured everything with concrete without a PVC pipe. The fact that they make a hole in the lower part of the support and additionally pour concrete into the support is correct. Such a pillar will really stand long and durable. The only thing worth doing is to paint the supports with a primer, or buy ready-made ones with polymer coating so that they do not rust.

Is it a pillar or a groove on the Maginot line? So as not to stick out the cross beam in the winter to weld and anchor to it. And do not complicate.

it’s cheaper then to make a mold for concrete columns, once and for all, pour concrete. in short - crap.

If the chain-link is pulled on the posts, then why all this hemorrhage? so that the pillars are not stolen? It’s enough just to tamp into the ground and will stand until the rust will eat them.

All commentators, who considered this technology as nonsense, have never seen how the soil rises in winter in an area with close groundwater. Depending on the depth of freezing of the soil, the rise can be up to 15 cm or more. The earth frozen with concrete represents a single whole and when freezing pulls concrete up. Under the rising column from below (the soil is still not frozen there), earthen slurry penetrates and in the spring after thawing the column does not fall back. So a column of 5-10 cm per year and rises. The only way to prevent this is to allow the expanding earth to glide over the pillar. It is for this that a plastic pipe is used! So everything in the proposed technology is done wisely.

This whole story clearly demonstrates how to bury money in the ground. Explicitly strangers. But if there is no mind, that is, professional qualifications are no longer foreseen, then money is buried in the ground. Occupation by a fence turns into entertainment for itself. The fence requires an entire season for installation and is economically reminiscent construction skyscraper. The main items of exorbitant costs: 1) drilling (very expensive equipment, site preparation, water control); 2) the manufacture of concrete (expensive equipment, the need for covered storage of cement, water, sifted sand that is necessary, high-quality crushed stone of a certain fraction, manual carrying of large and heavy volumes of the mixture, the need for electricity); 3) payment of unproductive labor and time of workers (a saw with a grinder of cutouts, welding of some "gadgets" for which you need a machine, you need a welder, a saw of polypropylene pipes. And buy them, bring them.
Manually pouring concrete into the pipe through a funnel and without a vibrator, this is a medical enema according to the complex of sensations. It seems to be useful, but stupid and inappropriate here. For a long time, again poor quality. It seems that it’s easier to put a plastic cap on top of the pipe for 9 rubles and forget about this concrete through a funnel, like a nightmare.
The processes are offered hidden, require vigilant control, otherwise the hidden work will turn into hidden imperfections. The problem place is filling concrete with the required volumes in the ground. Two throws with a shovel and it seems "kind of concreted." In fact, it is impossible to push concrete into the depths of a meter, and to make sure that everything is normal with it is impossible without a vibrator and the appearance of a characteristic foam on the concrete surface. Therefore, bored foundations are made with a diameter of at least 300 mm. 200x200mm reinforcing cage, and there is a place for a submersible vibrator.
Worst of all, in the megazabor project over time and its useless use. In short, the adviser moved on something, moved his mind and went to praise himself and “technology”.
In fact, everything happens differently. The first day they drop a hole under the pillars with a shovel. The second day they put an empty barrel or a tragus, they drive pipes from them into the ground. At first, one worker holds the pole a little and looks at the plumb line, the second slave drives the pipe into the ground with a sledgehammer, standing on a barrel or goats. Change in turn. The third day - the top of the pit of each column is covered with small gravel with a simple shovel or stones, broken bricks, crushed with a foot and a collar made of mortar. M300 ready mixes in bags, water, a shovel are used. For a snack - the flattened upper ends of the pipes are cut from above by the grinder along the lace. All. Pull by welding the crossbar under the profiled sheet or galvanized wire (cable) under the chain-link and for centuries.
The author forgot that rust turns into magnetite, the initial ore for iron smelting, pipes in the ground cease to rot. Frosty heaving is greatly exaggerated. The pipe itself is slippery. Fence should be dealt with in April, while the ground is soft, loose, just the ground already swollen after winter. This means: the pillar is installed at the peak of all the negative processes of frost heaving that occurred without it. Then the soil will be self-compacting, will hold the posts very tightly, and repeated heaving will simply put the pole in the best condition, because it was installed at the right time.
If "perfectionism" really presses, please - paint the pipes with primer-enamel not after installation, but before installation. And not at once, but in two, with a thin layer, as written in the instructions. Well, you can still sharpen the ends of the pipes to better drive in. In the fall, in short, everything needs to be prepared. And all these “miracle technologies” from the fundamental impossibility for the amateur to connect causes and effects in the head. When the money squeezes the thigh to make tricks, this is not a sign of genius.

Frosty heaving is not at all exaggerated. This is exactly what happens in areas with moist soil. And the earth does not cling to a slippery pipe, but to non-slip cement, so the decrease in friction due to contact with plastic is justified. As for the rusting of pipes: it was not about a pipe in the ground, where rust does not eat it, but about a part of the pipe at the exit from the ground, where there is air access, and in this case, rusting is very intense.

I dig a hole to the depth of three automobile tires, insert a plastic pipe into the inside, and fill it with mortar, fill it with clay from the outside of the tire and compact it. As the solution sets, I remove the plastic pipe. When the solution is completely dry in level and plumb into the finished hole, I install the pillar itself. For a pillar from a fence from a grid, one tire is enough. And for gates and for a metal profile, preferably 2 or 3.

But I made it easier — I put a Ø 150 mm pipe in the horizon, welded the vertical posts of this fence onto it and then in order. No groundwater and no subsidence and extrusion are terrible =)

The neighbor did the same. Every spring he fights with a fence. I drilled and poured pipes with sand and water. In the spring, several blows with a small sledgehammer, and the fence is level and the gate closes.

Gentlemen, professional builders, for each region there is a freezing depth, and a well under a pole should be drilled to this depth. All that is shown here is noodles for the owner-employer. This is how much time you need to spend on your inventions, for one column, and all this for that in order not to do the most difficult work - to drill wells with a depth of at least 1.5 meters.
