DIY Concrete Playground

Such a concrete platform in front of a house or a garage is very simple to do with your own hands. The site is poured in place alternately in the form of tiles with a decorative pattern. Unlike purchased forms, our home-made, which makes it possible to make tiles of any size and thickness.

Tile Mold

The shape is homemade, quadrant, with dimensions of 90 cm x 90 cm x 8 cm. Made from a thin wooden plank. The decorative pattern is made with slats, not the entire thickness of the form. Everything is fastened with ordinary screws.

Ideally, of course, it would be better to weld such a shape out of metal. But if you have no desire and you need to quickly lay out a small area, then the tree is more practical, since it is easier to work with.
For easier extraction of the mold from concrete, all its faces were smeared with petroleum jelly.
In my case, it takes about 36 kg of solution to produce one plate to fill out the form.

Laying a concrete platform in front of the garage

We level the platform that we will fill. I managed with a simple leveling, without any substrates, laid the tile directly on the ground.
We are preparing a cement solution. For painting, I used a special dye for cement, so that the tile had a more familiar color.
After the solution is well mixed and has the desired consistency, we proceed directly to the styling.
Set the form, fill with the solution. From above, we smooth everything to a flat surface.

Before removing the form, you must wait about two hours until the solution sets. Then gently lift the form, alternately from different sides.

If torn or broken edges are formed after removal of the form, they can be manually corrected until the concrete has finally solidified. In general, you should not worry about them, since in the end all the cracks will be spilled with concrete and it will fill all the voids and cracks.

At the final stage, I spread cement without dye, spilled and rubbed all the cracks with it. The tile is rubbed with a damp sponge to remove excess grouting concrete.
I am pleased with the result that I wanted - I got it.
In the future, I plan to make garden paths in the same way. Good luck to all!

We tried to make a similar tile with a slightly different shape. Actually now the question has become of combating grass and dirt in the furrows between sections. In my opinion it would be easier not to divide the form into parts.
