A quick way to sharpen a hand saw with a grinder

A very quick way to sharpen an old or new handsaw with a tool like a grinder (angle grinder). You will need only 5-10 minutes for all the teeth of your hacksaw to acquire pristine sharpness. This sharpening technique is designed exclusively for experienced users, those who are not the first day working with a grinder.

Sharpening a grinder

The first thing you need is to hold the saw well. It is better to use two clamps at the edges. With any manipulation, the canvas should not "play", and even more so, should be shifted to the side.
It is desirable to clamp the canvas horizontally, parallel to the plane of the workbench.

The saw is old, this is how the initial teeth look like. They are sawing accordingly as badly.

On the grinder we establish a circle, if possible, with fine grain. We start the tool and sharpen each tooth at an angle of one side. First we sharpen one side of the tooth, then go back and sharpen the other side of the tooth.

Turn the blade over and sharpen the other side of the saw.
This is how the canvas looks after sharpening.

We check in real conditions - we are sawing a tree.

The cut is smooth, the cut structure does not deteriorate - everything is smooth.

If the saw is clamped while sawing, then the tooth alignment should be checked. The wiring thickness must be at least two thicknesses of the hacksaw blade.
In general, it took about 5 minutes to sharpen the saw. With preparation no more than 10.
Do not forget about safety when working with a hand-held electric tool. A grinder is a particularly dangerous tool with which you need to be especially careful.
If you do not have sufficient experience when working with angle grinders, then I recommend that you abandon this technique.

If there is a "grinder", then why do you need a hacksaw? Throw it away and do not suffer!

A little grinder, in my opinion, is more convenient, easier and more accurate, but the idea is interesting. You have to try.

the quality of the sharpened hacksaw is mind blowing in the photo, you don’t have to cut it

A three-sided file, a little more time and the same result.
    Minuses:
    - your hands will get tired
    - without dexterity and understanding how to start a file, you can ditch a hacksaw
    Pros:
    - do not need a grinder and electricity
    - can be sharpened many times without reducing the height of the tooth
    - in one opening sharpen immediately two edges on adjacent teeth

    the first
lucky that there is still a divorce without a divorce and no saws
the rest is cool of course but
a triangular file makes it much more accurate and clamps - knees
    although a little longer

The grinder is rude. It’s more convenient, more accurate, better and faster than using a dremel with a 20-30mm disc - there is nothing, the file and the grinder were not nearby.

The hacksaw of the author is not for carpentry, it's obvious.

I point out the grinder, but in a circle, 6mm thick, which I tucked under the cone of a 3-faced file. 2 planes are sharpened at once.

like this, they’ll practice like that, and I’ll fix Bosla “grinders in 5 minutes” .... so that the hacksaw works sane, you need to make sure that the tips are at least about the same level on the same line and not that nightmarish “panacea” from the picture in 5 minutes, it takes me 30 minutes each on average for a professional sharpening for money, that this something became sharp in 5 minutes is not an indicator, this body will gallop unbearably and disgusting on the wood (if it does not jam without wiring), and accordingly it is necessary to breed it so that it cuts slightly wider than the hacksaw itself, dry a little pain the raw is a little less, get symmetry to you applause

Yes, really ... No words :(
We need experience, but we’ll get different angles anyway. About 25 years ago I solved this problem like this: I installed a narrow diamond disk on the Rebir hand circular (pr.1mm. I’ll have to search. First I used a bakelite cutting-off, but it didn’t reinforce ... the infection spread!) We fix the circular to the table with clamps (included), set the sharpening angle on the table and sharpen it for ourselves. It is advisable to lower the speed (to set fire to the hacksaw teeth) with a soft start regulator (assembled separately) based on the kr1182pm chip.1. I assure you, this is faster and better than sharpening angle grinder

It is convenient to the grinder to sharpen circular saws with a diameter of 150-400 mm. And if you have 175-180 in your network, as is often the case in the private sector, then there is no need for a speed regulator.

I would also cut between the teeth a couple of millimeters of cut for a better divorce.
