The principle of operation of the compressor device from the refrigerator


The standard compressor from the refrigerator is a compressor unit without a storage tank, which is enclosed in a metal casing. Two copper tubes depart from it, through which air is sucked in and out under pressure. The electrical connection diagram remains practically unchanged, since it is ready. Air filters are mounted on the inlet and outlet pipes, followed by an oxygen hose with an adapter for the consumer.

  • Car air filter - 2 pcs;
  • Oxygen hose for nozzles;
  • Spiral oxygen hose with quick couplers;
  • Air gun for pumping wheels;
  • Clamps, wires.

The compressor from the refrigerator is equipped with a start relay, to which the thermostat was initially connected. He does not participate in this assembly, therefore it must be disconnected, having previously marked the contacts on the starting relay, and short them with a piece of insulated wire.

We select the oxygen hose according to the diameter of the nozzle, and mount the air filter at the compressor inlet. One of its plastic nozzles for air sampling can be cut off, leaving a hole free. In the connection, you can do without clamps, since this element of our installation is not under pressure.

The pipe for him should not be made long. Cut it off with a knife, and push the filter by hand. So that the compressor copper tubes are not on the same line and do not interfere with each other, they can be bent in different directions.

Next we attach the second air filter to the outlet. If necessary, the copper pipe under it can be shortened with nippers.

As the practice of the author himself has shown, even with a relatively small pressure, such an assembly cannot do without pressure clamps. We put them on the nozzles, and tighten the connection. The author extinguished the second copper pipe coming out of the compressor with a self-tapping screw and electrical tape.

We attach a small segment of the oxygen hose to the air filter, and connect a spiral hose for compressor work. This can also be done through a quick-release adapter.

Now you can connect an air gun for pumping wheels to a spiral hose, and check the operation of our installation. To avoid excessive pressure in the hoses and filter, you can squeeze the trigger of an air gun with a nylon screed.

As you can see, the author of the homemade product managed to get a working pressure of about 3 Atm, which is quite enough for efficient pumping of wheels in the garage. By the way, this installation can be used for the most diverse work, for example, for painting with a spray gun.

The weak point of this compressor unit is the plastic air filters. At a pressure of several atmospheres, their body greatly inflates, and they can simply burst.Therefore, this option for their use is conditional and not final.     The thermal relay cannot be removed, as at low temperatures, for example, when the compressor is installed in an unheated garage, the oil freezes and the engine with the load turning the air pump heats up and fails. In this case, the thermal relay will shut off the engine and be saved from failure. As a filter, it is better to use a fuel filter from the VAZ-2110, it has a metal case.

      An output filter is required for oil separation. It is better to install it vertically to ensure reverse oil drainage. Accordingly, this limits the continuous operation of the compressor.

    I assembled such a compressor about 15 years ago. I installed a receiver, a pressure sensor with a manometer. It would have been nice if the compressor had not expelled the oil that gets into the tire. And the compressor itself wedged out after several starts. On this with the home-made was over.

    You do not need any filters, you need to install a receiver on top so that the oil flows back and works for a very long time, and nothing needs to be closed in the start relay.

    Plastic filters really burst, the solution is to use more expensive fuel filters from the same Kalina, because there is high pressure in the highway.
    With such a filter, I have had normal flight for more than 2 years.

    One question torments me. And for what purpose is OXYGEN hoses? There are ordinary hoses from the air system of, say, a helicopter or light aircraft, and car hoses are similar that can easily withstand pressure up to 150 kg / square centimeter.
    Or did the author get oxygen hoses somewhere? The pressure they hold is about the same.

    The thing is necessary and simple, calmly pumps 10 Atm. Do not overturn - the oil will either leak or fall into the air line. One problem with him - he doesn’t like the cold, recently in the cold because of the thermal relay 15 minutes were launched! It starts up for 5 seconds and stalls for 15 minutes, until it has warmed up a bit and has rocked for swing. I’ve been plowing for health for 15 years already, you can even take it with you on a long journey, but it’s capricious - without an inverter 12-220V 300W in the car does not turn on !!! There is someone where to get, then I recommend !!!
