Smokehouse from a cylinder

Once, a couple of my friends and I decided to build something interesting. Glance fell on a pair of gas cylinders, standing in the corner. It was decided to make a smokehouse for hot smoking of meat, lard or sausages.
We decided to start. I want to add right away that none of us was a welder or an engineer. Therefore, almost everything had to be done as for the first time.

Smokehouse stand

We started the production of hot smoked smokehouse from the stand. Maybe this is not entirely correct, but we decided so. We had several cylinders of different diameters. Taking the largest we sawed off the tip from it. And it turned out a kind of plate. Then they sawed the pipes and welded, we got the legs.

Next, we took a smaller balloon and cut off about one third of it in length. Then a hole was cut out under the chimney.

Assembly of the furnace with the base

We cut out a window for throwing firewood and weld the furnace to the base. Then we weld the door to the window on the hinges. A hole is made in the center of the door, in which, in the future, there will be a handle.

Mark the boundaries where we will cut with masking tape. And cut the bottom of the cylinder first, and then cut the door.

The grilles are made of steel mesh and a narrow strip of steel. This strip can be taken from the same cylinder by sawing off the ring from below. And so that the diameter is slightly smaller, you need to cut out the groove at the end and weld by squeezing the ring. Then weld the mesh. And finally, we weld the rings into the smoke bottle itself.

We put a smokehouse cylinder on the firebox. Level everything. And then we weld in a circle, making the design unified.

We supplement the smokehouse with a door

We hang the door, fasten and weld the hinges. We also welded the fasteners so that the door does not spontaneously open during cooking. Although this is not at all necessary.
Next, we weld the pipe with a damper - this is also not necessary, rather for aesthetics.

The smokehouse is ready for testing

The smokehouse was tested - everything is fine. Now I can smoke not only meat and home-made sausage, but also fish. It turns out everything is very tasty.
In principle, such a smokehouse can be made from cylinders of the same diameter, we just had different ones.
I want to add: when working with metal and metalworking tools, be extremely vigilant! Take your time.
Before cutting cylinders, make sure that they are free of pressure and gas. It’s best to pour water to the brim before processing so that excess fumes come out.
Thanks to all!
