What do you need for a sharpener?

  • - A small wooden block.
  • - A pair of screws.

Getting started making knife sharpeners

The first step is to remove two steel wheels that strike silicon from both lighters. This is all just done with a flat screwdriver. Then, with the same screwdriver, release the middle of these wheels from the aluminum sides, so that in the end you only have steel wheels without facing.

Then on a small wooden block you need to put steel wheels.

Combine them together and fasten to the bar with screws. Scales of wheels should be directed in one direction.

The knife sharpener is ready. She will not take up much space on the farm, and if necessary, she can be taken with her even on a hike.
Using a sharpener is very simple. You take the knife, place its tip between the wheels, and with a little effort stretch the knife towards you.
As a result, metal shavings appear and the blunt edge of the knife is sharpened.

Check sharpener

I took a blunt knife, which initially almost did not cut paper. He made a dozen movements on the sharpener just made.
Everything, the knife was perfectly ground. The paper sheet is cut once or twice.

... the sharpener is simple, logical, working! The only thing to do is to put silicon at an angle of 25 ° to each other. Then luxury ... !!!

Actually, this is NOT a sharpener. The blade is really sharpened, but ... like a SAW. Knife Saw, not cut. It helps for a while. But quickly. blush

The very "bauble" is that the "adapt" really works. And sockets are not required for a branded sharpener. And there is no fuss with the donkey. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR USE (verified by experience):
Do not “crush” when sharpening. We stretch without pressure (against the "wool"), the blade finds the place itself. Five to six passes (10 sec.). And THEN "on wool" - also without pressure (two - three passes). At the same time, the knife begins to cut everything in a row - from toilet paper to a thick Whatman paper (I don’t speak about tomatoes). I tried to finish it on a donkey (experiment for the sake of it) - the difference is not great ... I spent time ...
HOW CORRECT !? And CORRECTLY NOT "across", but "ALONG". A knife blade MANDATORY will fall off at the "exit" and scratch (leave traces of activity) on the kitchen table or immediately become dull if the stone countertop (fashionable) or stainless steel (a rarity in everyday life). Wooden plank - at least 20 cm in length. The wheels are attached with an offset of 1.5 cm from the middle (to visually know which direction “against the wool”).The blade of even a long kitchen (!) Knife will ALWAYS fall on the bar, and not on the finger (it hurts!) Or the table top of a polished coffee table (written, for a computer).
The first time I saw a Zen sharpener was half a year ago. I do not kill knives (the wife does not ask the neighbor to "sharpen" - "take out the trash"). And the wheels turned a little only once (for a couple of cloves). Used a knife - "season".
And to find such self-tapping screws (that would be a camel in the eye of a needle) - I rummaged the entire hut (techie) and found a pair!
