Cyclone (dust collector) from boxes for CDs and a toy road cone.
CD Box Cyclone

You can make a rather effective dust collector yourself from a couple of boxes for CDs, a toy road cone and several pieces of PVC pipe. This cyclone can be attached to a bucket and used with a commercial vacuum cleaner.
You can make a vacuum cleaner out of the box for CDs. Fully functional, compact and cheaper than a store device. All you need is a pair of cylindrical boxes for CDs, a toy road cone, a bucket, a PVC pipe and an electric motor from an old vacuum cleaner.
One day my friend asked if I could make something out of a box for disks, and the first thing that occurred to me was a vacuum cleaner with a dust collector. And a few months later the result of my work appeared.

Materials for the future vacuum cleaner

To make a cyclone you will need:
  • One box for 50 CDs and one for 100.
  • 1 plastic road cone.
  • 1 m PVC pipe with a diameter of 7 cm.
  • Fitting for PVC pipes.
  • One plastic bucket with a lid (not necessarily round).

To make a homemade vacuum cleaner, you will need:
  • The electric motor of any vacuum cleaner.
  • 2 rectangular bends for 7 cm pipes.
  • 1 cylinder box with a cover for 100 CDs.
  • 4 boards 8 x 35 cm.
  • 4 wheels from the chair.
  • 1 switch.
  • 1 electrical wire.

Let's start with a box of 50 CDs. Cut a hole in the bottom (black) part of the box so that it is suitable for joining the PVC pipe.
In the CD, cut a hole in the center of the diameter of the PVC pipe, and cut it from side to hole.
We put the disk on the pipe, stretching it so that a screw is formed, and fix everything with hot glue.
We cut an oval hole in the side of the box cover (transparent part) for the CD so that you can insert the pipe into it.
We cut off the bottom of the toy road cone so that the diameter of the bottom matches the diameter of the cover of the box for CDs.
We cut off the top of the transparent cover.

We insert the PVC pipe into the hole in the side of the box for CDs and apply hot-melt adhesive to fix it.
We insert the pipe with the screw from the CD into the center of the box and fix the pipe with glue, as well as the outer edges of the disc with the inner edges of the box cover.
We glue the trimmed part of the cone with the trimmed top of the box from the CDs.
We cut off the upper part of the road cone so that the diameter on the cut coincides with the diameter of the PVC pipe.
Cut off the upper part of the box cover for 100 disks and make a hole in the lower part.
We glue the box on 100 disks with the already assembled part to make the design more stable.

We insert the electric motor together with the switch and wires into the cylinder of the box for 100 CDs.
Cut holes in the upper and lower parts of the box for PVC pipes and fix the pipes in them with glue.
Cut holes in the lid of the bucket to install a cyclone element and a vacuum cleaner.
Using the fitting, we connect the pipe on the suction side of the vacuum module with the upper part of the cyclone module.
The air outlet pipe from the vacuum module is brought out of the bucket.
We make the wheel base for the dust collector and connect the dust suction hose.

From any tree we assemble a platform corresponding to the size of the bucket. In the lower part of the platform we drill holes for fastening the wheels at the corners. We connect the dust suction hose to the cyclone module retraction pipe.We put the garbage bag in the bucket and test the dust collector for functioning and dust leaks.

PPC heaped up. A bucket from under the paint, from the top stuck the hose to the vacuum cleaner, lowering it almost to the very day, on the side, under the cover itself from the brush, pour a liter of water so that the flying dust nails and everything.
