It is no secret that the health of a child in the cold season depends on how well the throat is closed.
As a rule, there is no one in the kindergarten to monitor how the child is dressed during a walk, and he often catches a cold.
Since I sewed this scarf for my four year old daughter. Now my heart is calm, since it does not slip off the neck, does not come untied, and the child’s throat is always warm.
So, we take an ordinary scarf (in my case, the width of the scarf is 20 cm), and mercilessly cut off a length equal to approximately 64 cm (in the photo below, my cut scarf is folded in half).
We will also need three pieces of simple linen elastic. The length of each elastic band is 32 cm. This length of elastic band will allow the neck to be closed, and at the same time will not compress the child’s throat.
We sew the cut edge with a zigzag stitch on a sewing machine, this will prevent the scarf from unraveling.
Now we take one piece of elastic, place it in the middle of the scarf and sew it on with a zigzag machine.When you sew the elastic band to the scarf, you must tighten it, since it is half as long. In this way, we get an assembly in the middle.
Next, fold the scarf in half and make a simple straight side seam.
In order to create a drawstring under the elastic band, we fold the top and bottom of the scarf and sew it with a straight stitch on a machine as shown in the photo below.
We insert the remaining two elastic bands into the scenes using a simple pin.
If you wish, you can make a double scarf and sew not just one elastic band in the middle, but several. This way, the scarf will cover the child’s neck more tightly and higher.
