Spring and autumn are the seasons when shoes get wet especially often, due to frequent rains. Not dried shoes can harm your health from overcooling your feet. Yes, and the shoes themselves will not last long. Whatever happens, I will show you how to make a very simple device that will allow you to avoid these problems.
Simple do-it-yourself shoe dryer

A shoe dryer consists of only three components. It is not that simple, but rather the simplest. Well, I personally have not seen easier. Despite its simplicity, it has a number of significant advantages:
  • - Low power consumption.
  • - Small size. No problem, you can take with you wherever you go.
  • - You can try batteries or rechargeable batteries as a power supply. And as a result, you can dry your shoes anywhere, say, on a camping trip, on summer fishing, etc.

The dryer has no heating elements and dries your shoes with simple ventilation. The method is quite effective and the drying time is not longer than that of an electric heating dryer, although it all depends on the external humidity.

What is needed for a shoe dryer?

  • - Power supply 12 V (5 V).
  • - Two coolers (fans) 12 V from the computer.

Dryer assembly

We take two fans and connect in parallel to the power supply. Insulate with tape or heat shrink tube. And your shoe dryer is ready. We put the fans on top of the shoes, or if we insert into the shoes. And plug the unit into the network.

If the drying speed is not so important for you, then you can take a 5 volt power supply (charger from the phone). This will increase the drying time of the shoes, but reduce the noise of the fans. Of course it is not big, but still, someone may not like it.
I would like to add that you can connect at least 10 fans to one power supply unit and dry 5 pairs of shoes. Enough for the whole family. And if all of a sudden you get wet, and the dryer is only one, it will take you just a couple of minutes to make a few more dryers, unless of course you have all the elements at hand.

Fans should be taken smaller and pull hoses on them -
otherwise the ventilation in the most critical place of the boot (toe) will be too weak.
