Nightlight - stand

One day, after a night wake, I saw that a tree fell near my neighbor’s house. The wind was very strong and did not spare him. To clean the tree, the neighbor decided to first cut it into pieces, and then leave the truck and take it out.
I walked by when the tree was already sawn. And he noticed that some of the logs inside were hollow. Either the parasites have eaten, or it has grown so much - I did not go into details.
Nightlight - stand

I do not know how this idea was born, but I decided to make a stand with backlight.
Nightlight - stand

I brought in general one log with a through hole home.

The first thing I did was to take off the bark, I won’t need it. For removal I used a hammer and a chisel.

After removing the bark - it is necessary to level the surface. If the neighbor sawed off exactly, then this would not have to be done. Although for one with alignment with the log adjusted to a tedious height. To determine the boundary where to cut, I wrapped it with aluminum foil. I cut the surface with a gasoline saw. You can use a circular or hand saw.

After all surfaces have been prepared, surfaces must be prepared and made smooth and ready to be coated.
I used a sanding machine with interchangeable sandpaper disks.
After all the external surfaces are prepared, go to the internal.
Nightlight - stand

I took the gold paint and covered the inner hollow from the spray can.
I forgot to say: if the log is wet or wet enough, then it is necessary to dry it at room temperature for 3-5 days.
Now we need to create a “glass” countertop on one of the surfaces. To do this, cover the surface with contact paper for storing epoxy. It can be replaced with glossy paper, to which epoxy does not stick when hardening. To do this, you can previously conduct several experiments to find what you need.
We cover the surface with contact paper, fix it with adhesive tape tightly.

Turn the log over. This should be done on a flat surface, since the epoxy will harden all the surface irregularities when hardened.
We prepare epoxy resin - mixing its components well. I took the resin transparent, it is sometimes yellow. The amount of mixture depends on the diameter of the hollow and the thickness of the desired wall. I needed 200 ml. On the contrary, gently pour the resin.

We are waiting for the curing of the resin in about 24 hours. After that, remove the contact strip. The surface is flat.

If you want a smoother result, then on top you can apply another layer of epoxy resin or varnish.
We cover the entire outer surface with varnish.
Now you need to prepare the lamp for the inside. With a stand on the diameter of the inner hollow. I took a bulb of 220 volts, multi-colored, with a control panel. Using the remote control, you can set the color or make an automatic color change after a certain period of time.
You can buy it here -
We take a PVC pipe in diameter, we insert a foam insulation for pipes, pass a wire and fasten a bulb holder. This is what was at hand.
Nightlight - stand

We insert into the log and press a small tangent piece of wood so that our whole structure does not fall out.
We stick the racks from the seal and on this our crafts can be considered completed.
Turn on and check our lamp-night-stand.
