LEDs can be very effective and economical in long-term use. 10 Watt LED bulbs can replace 100 W or 30 W incandescent bulbs with a compact fluorescent lamp. Despite the relatively high initial cost, compared to other types of lamps, your electricity bill can be significantly reduced if you use these LED lamps yourself.

Here I will show you how to make your own stylish 10 watt LED downlight.
 
 
Necessary materials.

We will need:

1. The base of a burned-out energy-saving lamp.

2. Two captures (to connect to the LED);

3. Powerful ten-watt LED, color of your choice;

4. Two small screws;

5. One ten-watt LED driver;

6. Thermal grease;

7. Radiator from a video card;

8. Heat shrink tube (or insulating tape);

9. wires with a cross section of 2 mm.

10. Drilling machine.


First of all, we need to disassemble an old or burned out energy-saving lamp. Be careful not to damage the glass flask. Otherwise, mercury gas very harmful to health will come out of it.
 

We need only a part of the hull with a base. We cut off the motions from the board going to the socle and solder ours, coming from the LED driver, behind the heat-shrink tubing.


We will make a pair of holes for the wire with a soldering iron, which will hold the entire structure.

 

Next, in the center of the radiator (where the video card processor used to touch), we drill two holes for attaching the LED and cut the threads.

We plant an LED. To do this, grease both surfaces with thermal grease and tighten the LED tightly to the radiators.


Then we take the terminals, crimped, connected to the LED observing the polarity.
 
We check. Some Chinese drivers give a slowdown of about 3 seconds, so if the LED does not light up immediately, wait a bit.

Do not try to look at the LED on. The light intensity is very high and can harm your eyes!
 
If everything works, we assemble the lamp into a single whole. As in the picture.


Diffuser.

The LED is very bright and casts sharp shadows. You can make the light smoother and softer using a makeshift diffuser.

Cut the bottom out of a two liter plastic bottle and sand it on all sides to give full opacity to direct light. Make four holes and attach to the radiator with wire. See the photo.

    1) What is a ten-watt LED driver. Why is it needed where and how much can it be bought?
    2) What are two captures? Chtoli wire
    3) How did you cut the thread for mounting the LED?

    Yes, mercury fumes are harmful .... as well as steam from plastic with a scorched soldering iron happy . It is very stylish to see the bottom from a plastic bottle under the ceiling.
    Further on:
    1) LED driver - power supply for LED
    2) Captures can be seen in the photo - two stainless stubs of wire ...
    3) The thread is cut with a tool called a tap ... and before that a hole is drilled.
    4) If you (vladimirsnc) ask such elementary questions, I do not advise you to take on the destruction of an LED worth about $ 10 ... with an incandescent lamp, there will be more savings.

    In fact, out of respect for the readers, it would be nice to write the name of the LED driver.
    Moreover, the circuit turns out to be an expensive-LED driver costs money.
    And, finally, it would be nice to use the “warm” LED, because the sharp white color irritates and strains the eyes, especially at home and no light filter will save from this.
    And the last: I do not recommend watching even a weak LED (for example, FLUX or "piranha") - it spoils the vision very much and quickly!

    And the brand of the driver is not indicated due to the fact that it is selected purely individually for the LED and its power.

    We were told how, roughly speaking, to plug an LED into a socket. Everything else is designer's entertainment. With the same success, you can write an article on how to buy bread in a store.

    In order to fix the LED, I drilled holes with a drill, then I screwed the LED on with screws. IMPORTANT !     You can and a resistor. Then the power of the diode will depend on the fluctuations of the network. With an increase in the upper threshold (jump in the network), the diode simply burns, since no one canceled Ohm's law. Someone is pleased when the light sometimes flickers at a frequency of 50Hz? Do they lie? The driver creates stable voltage and current for the diode. Oscillations of the network over a wide range do not cause flickering of light. And the frequency of the diode's supply is tens of kilohertz, against 50Hz distinguished by the eye.

    Where on the diode driver kilohertz? in general, even a simple bridge with a conder gives an almost constant voltage without flickering. A 3v zener diode in parallel to the LED will not let the voltage jump out more than necessary, so you can always agree with Ohm's law. The price of all parts is a penny. I took 260 sabilitrons for 5 bucks on the DX, the resistors are even cheaper, the bridge is either picked up or assembled from diodes for a dollar pack.

    I assembled a 50W LEDCob from CREE (270 small diodes). Without a fan, the radiator warmed up to 70 degrees in 3 minutes. With a fan in silent mode, it did not rise above 40.

    I do not recommend installing non-resistors or capacitors ... LEDs give the optimum wind flow at the appropriate current and fluctuations of + - 20% cause it to decrease by as much as 2-3 times, and it’s not difficult to burn. I recommend drivers to everyone argos-trade - they have not been more reliable yet.

    Looked at this site 10 wadded lamp. I want to act as an expert in this article, I have decent experience in manufacturing LED lamps. I want to warn those who are interested in this home-made device. The first thing is that this lamp will cost you cheaply this is complete nonsense, it will be relatively inexpensive if you rummage through your rubbish and find all the components and at the same time have solid knowledge of electronics, then you will have the opportunity to do it. I am completely unclear what the author was guided by when creating this article.

    Instead of a drill, you can use a manual electric drill. If you do not like the exterior of the lamp, you can make a fire, it will be much more beautiful and hide the flaws of technology. And before scolding others, try to do something yourself. Better some sensible design advice was offered.
