I’m very tired of the monotonous computer desks that are at everyone’s house like a carbon copy. And I decided to make a completely original, exclusive computer desk for my beloved, with dimensions that would be convenient for me personally. In addition, a home-made computer desk is not only very healthy, but also very cheap, since all materials can be purchased at the nearest construction and plumbing stores.

Materials for the table:
  • Threaded steel pipe (3/4 inch diameter) 610 mm - 4 pieces.
  • Steel pipe with thread (3/4 inch diameter) 457 mm - 5 pieces.
  • Steel pipe with thread (3/4 inch diameter) 152 mm - 2 pieces.
  • Threaded steel pipe (3/4 inch diameter) 51 mm - 3 pieces.
  • Threaded steel pipe (3/4 inch diameter) 25 mm - 2 pieces.
  • Tees for pipes with a diameter of 3/4 inch - 7 pieces.
  • Flange for steel pipe with thread (3/4 inch diameter) - 5 pieces.
  • End cap for steel pipe with thread (3/4 inch diameter) - 4 pieces.
  • Plywood sheet - 1 piece.
  • Tape for pasting the edges of plywood - 1 roll.

I adjusted the dimensions of the pipes to fit my parameters, but you can make a table for your height and width.

Getting to the assembly table.

We start with the easiest - assembling the base from pipes. To start, I gathered the first two legs.
Then he twisted everything else. Nothing complicated, everything is quite simple and corny - see the picture. It is advisable to paint the assembly field with nitro paint from the spray can base, but I personally left it as it is. Everything turned out very carefully, without any burrs.

Now we turn to the most difficult - to the countertop.
First of all, we cut out the rectangle of the required size. Further, if you will make a cutout (you can leave the table without cutouts), you need to draw them with a pencil. Having previously remembered the geometry for grade 7 and calculating cutouts.

With a jigsaw, we cut out our cutouts along the contour. Then, using fine sandpaper, we clean the edges of the burrs. Check for large cracks and chips. A little trick: so that when cutting the edge does not “tear” too much with a jigsaw - glue the tape around the edge so that you protect the edges of the countertop.

We take a border adhesive tape and glue it on the ends of the countertops using an iron. After the tape has stuck, we carefully cut off the excess parts with a sharp clerical knife.
If desired (as I did), you can cover with a stain in several layers and varnish on wood. There is an alternative - you can use a ready-made varnish with a woody shade. Use varnish in a well-ventilated room, and preferably in the open air.

Final assembly.
We put the countertop on the base, fasten it from the bottom with screws using a screwdriver. That's all. Very beautiful. It turned out just awesome. I am personally very pleased with the result, and the money saved.

The steel base of the pipes is very reliable and ensures the reliability of the entire structure, and greater stability.
I will arrange my computer equipment. It looks very nice.

PS: There was an idea to use PVC pipes, but in order to get a stable and reliable design, you need to use pipes of a wider diameter, which I think would not be very beautiful and aesthetically pleasing. So, keep in mind.
I hope my budget project will inspire you to more interesting ideas.

He made one, only instead of legs - ldsp; went for all 2000 rubles. As I did for myself, I reduced the width to 110 cm
The most important thing here is the height and depth of the table

Probably not PVC pipes, but polypropylene? And the table was just gorgeous!

Do not strictly follow the sizes. The front neckline is best done based on the width of your shoulders, so that you do not have to spread your arms too much. My shoulder width is about 47, and the front neckline is 60 wide and for me it's a lot. I think around 53 would be optimal. If you want to lean against your head to support your hand, you have to move the body or move along with the chair to the side so as not to stretch your elbow, and your back will not warp so much. I have a cutout for wires of 15 cm, not 60, and everything fits in with a huge margin.

If the space in the room allows, then the depth of the countertop is best done 800. In this case, you can calmly stretch your legs if the table is close to the wall. Instead of plywood, you can take a pine shield with a thickness of 28-30. Normal plywood of the first or at least second grade you will not find in stores such as Leroy. This is only ordered in specialized offices, and more than half of the sheet will go to waste, because the sheets are huge.

I took such a shield, sawed, sanded (it is better to take 120 or 140 emery, sand only along the fibers or in a circle. I covered 3 layers with white acrylic paint and 3 layers with acrylic varnish, it turned out very well, the texture of the wood was preserved. Pay attention to the processing of the ends, round off corners so that they do not later cut your hands.
Instead of pipes, take two furniture supports, it’s easier to assemble and looks good. Attach the back to the corners to the wall, the table will be much more stable.
