Eight of foam and satin ribbons

On holidays, it is always nice to receive original and unusual souvenirs, especially handmade ones. But it’s even more pleasant to give such souvenirs. After all, to create something beautiful and elegant from improvised means is not only interesting: it is extremely inspiring and gives a feeling of one’s own exclusiveness. And the high praise of loved ones simply cannot but rejoice, and it encourages us to create more and more masterpieces ...
One of such unusual presents is precisely this cute eight.

It will be a wonderful gift on March 8 for women of absolutely any age. The soft eight will please its future owner and will certainly cheer her up on this holiday.

So, to complete this work, you will need the following:

• a piece of thin foam rubber measuring 15X20 cm (thickness not more than 2 cm);
  
• wide satin ribbons of two colors (primary color - 4 meters, decor - about 1 meter);
  
• thin lace or wavy braid (also up to 1 meter);
  
• thread and needle;
  
• polymer waterproof glue;
  
• scissors.

First, start creating a sketch. On a piece of paper, draw a three-dimensional number “eight,” and then cut it out.

Then we transfer the circuit to the foam. Circle the pattern with a ballpoint pen: this way all the lines will be extremely clear.

Cutting a soft number is most accurate, because its lateral sides should remain flat. But this does not mean that you should achieve perfectly smooth surfaces. Remember that the tape will still hide small irregularities.


Next, evenly wrap a soft silhouette from the inside out, laying out the tape symmetrically. Make sure that the base does not tighten or warp.


Sew the end of the tape in the center, turning it with the cut edge inward.



After that, with straight stitches, sew a thin ribbon on a color base and bring the end of the red decor to the center.


Agree, already at this stage the work looks quite impressive.

And from the jewelry we only have a rose, which we will make of tape and simply stick to the base.


We sew the red ribbon with a thin thread and tighten it a little, the lower edge is also fixed so that the flower does not fall apart.


Foliage can be made of ribbon or dense green fabric, but a factory blank, taken from a bouquet of artificial flowers, will be in harmony with this kind of flower.

On the reverse side, it also does not hurt to sew the ribbon in order to fix the satin base on both sides and prevent its displacement later (the ribbon is not sewn).
So our eight became even more interesting to look.
