» »Simple but effective fight against computer noise
I always thought that the noise in the computer is created exclusively by fans working inside to drive air. Oh how wrong I was! After all, the main part of the noise is created by the body of the computer itself. All vibration from all the working parts of the computer, such as a hard drive, fans or cooler, is transmitted to the case.

And what is most interesting is that the vibration from the case is pretty well transmitted to surrounding objects, in particular to the stand on which the computer is standing.
I will offer you one simple step to understand - it will take five minutes to make your PC a little quieter!

For this, it is necessary to put vibration-absorbing material between the PC and what it stands on. The material may be different, but the softer and thicker the better. In the top of these materials will be a piece of foam.

Here is my pc. It makes a decent noise.

After the soft fabric backing, the difference is quite noticeable! In particular, low-frequency noise has disappeared.

I advise you what to do.

Good luck

the main thing is not closed the bottom hole for cooling. In some models it is below. it will be much safer and more economical [b] this [/ b] only to put under the legs. Well, if you use vibration damping pads for the HDD, the system will become quieter. you can also independently cut such gaskets from any suitable material for mounting coolers and optical drives. That's exactly what I did. And if it is possible to glue the case from the inside with noise insulation for a car, then only the air coming out of the system unit will sound. [b] The main thing is not to “shut off oxygen” to the machine! [/ b]

I advise you to buy silent coolers and not to invent a bicycle.

Disgusting advice on finishing the body from the inside with noise insulation. The walls of the body remove heat from heating parts. When gluing the case from the inside with noise insulation, the heat sink will be difficult and will be carried out only through ventilation. PC overheating is possible.

I must say, empty cardboard boxes also help. But too strong - can produce the opposite effect, too weak can bend under the weight of the computer. Foam rubber by the way can be quite toxic, especially when it deteriorates over time.

At one time, I used electrical tape as a gasket in the places where the "mother" is attached to the body and around the perimeter of the covers to the body, there are not very thick electrical tape. Greatly damped the vibration ...

but I don’t hear noise at all .. sometimes I think where he is .. and he is on the street on the window .. punished him and it’s not cold he will heat himself .... and he didn’t invent a bicycle .. ..

No need to buy cheap cases of thin sheet metal, and there will be no unnecessary noise.

Over 25 years of working with computers, I have accumulated extensive experience in noise reduction. Use a gasket under the case! This will eliminate the resonance and transmission of the hum to the countertop, which itself will be the source of the hum. The gasket is best cut from thick foam linoleum on a felt basis. The comp will stand on its legs, just like on a table, and air from below will pass freely. Glue the walls, the roof of the case and the sides of the basket for Hdd with vibration-damping material for cars - based on bitumen and foil. Do not listen to nonsense about the deterioration of the heat sink! You have heat removed with hot air by the fans, the walls do not play and half a percent. All fans must be fixed with rubber bolts, they can be found in the comp. stores. If not or you feel sorry for the money, cut gaskets from porous material both at the corners of the fan casing and under the screw heads. Do not over tighten. It is best to make these gaskets from sheet polyethylene foam. It can be found as packaging from a monitor or video card, etc. On the perimeter of the side covers of the case, stick a regular electrical tape so that they do not rattle metal on the metal of the case. And the last - when buying even an expensive computer case, try to choose one where the unit for installing hard drives is attached only to the top, but does not go to the bottom. If it is installed completely from floor to ceiling, the vibration of the hard drives will transmit forced mechanical signals to the computer case. fluctuations. And this creates the most terrible and hard to beat hum, as I had. Good body makes the company. There, the unit for installing 5-inch devices is suspended from above to the middle, and a basket for two hard drives is fastened to it from below on a slide. And the basket is actually fixed with one screw. Such a system hardly transmits vibration of the hard drives to a case whose walls are made of thick steel and do not rattle either. So such cases are quiet on their own.

Oh you goddess you are mine! Gentlemen, those guys who design and manufacture cases for our PCs do not think about noise and heat at all. Well, estimate yourself the flow of incoming and outgoing air! stupidly, in area .. well, and ...
I had a hole in the "belly" approx. 100x150 cut and "stilted" for the systemist to arrange, because the standard 5mm legs do not physically allow air to penetrate inside .. well, not that they do not, but actively interfere. Do you understand Zalman to help you ..
