To make a wonderful present a loved one does not have to leave the house. You can decorate, for example, a plastic box that previously served as a case for a watch or a removable panel for a car radio. An old box, with the active participation of stationery, remnants of velvety fabric and rhinestones, can be transformed into an amazingly beautiful gift in half an hour.

Materials for work:
  • Box – 1 pc.;
  • The fabric is velvety, the size of the inside of the lid is multiplied by 2;
  • Gouache paint “bronze”, glue “liquid nails”, narrow stationery tape, dishwashing sponge, alcohol-containing liquid, matches, brush, black marker, rhinestones, tweezers.

Stages of work:

First stage: preparation of the front surface.

Wash the box thoroughly, remove all stickers, and degrease with alcohol-containing liquid.

We cover the sides of the box with narrow tape around the entire perimeter. Carefully smooth the edges so that the paint does not get under the tape.

Second stage: decorating the front side of the box.

We touch the edges of the entire box with a sponge and bronze paint.

Select the design you like and transfer it to the surface of the box (in this case, a decoupage napkin was used).

We increase decor edges, slightly adjusting it to the applied pattern.

Paint the middle of the lid with paint. The edges of the continuous painting, retreating a little, are decorated with dot painting. This can be done using a sushi stick, dipping it in paint and making 2-3 dots.

In the central part of the solid piece we make a decoration in the form of an inscription with a marker or black paint.

We completely coat the back of the box with bronze paint. For a more uniform coating, it is necessary to apply several layers, drying each one.

We draw black veins on large leaves.

Third stage: decorate with rhinestones.

Glue small rhinestones onto the dot pattern. To fasten the surface and rhinestones, we use “liquid nails” glue, first dipping the stick into the glue, then applying it to the surface of the dot pattern.

We glue larger rhinestones onto large point curves.

We selectively decorate the dotted pattern with rhinestones.

We coat the front side of the box and the bottom with varnish. Let's dry it.

Carefully remove the tape, being careful not to damage the edges of the design.

Stage four: decorate the inside of the box.

Degrease and clean the inside surface of the box.

From paper we make a pattern for the bottom of the upper and lower parts. Place the pattern on the wrong side of the fabric and trace it with a marker. Cut it out.

Carefully burn the edges of the fabric to avoid fraying.

Fill the surface to be decorated with “liquid nails” glue, distribute it evenly over the entire surface, carefully coat the edges around the perimeter. The glue layer should not be very thick, otherwise the fabric will get wet and become “stony”. Apply the fabric and smooth it, pressing lightly.

Use a stick to remove excess glue and carefully press the joint between the fabric and the box.

To remove the clarity of the transition boundaries of the fabric, use a marker to tint its edges along the entire perimeter. Since the fabric is fleecy, we move the marker in the direction of the pile. Otherwise, the pile will bend and the pattern will turn out “shaggy” and uneven.

In the center of the top cover we make an inscription with a marker.

We apply a couple of layers of bronze paint over the inscription. The pile must be saturated, all the “hairiness” is smoothed out.

    Once again I am convinced that you cannot throw away things that have already served their purpose and become unusable. After all, they can be used to make wonderful present for a loved one who will not leave anyone indifferent.
