How to make designs on clothes without thermal paper? You can buy expensive felt-tip pens for painting on fabric, but you can also get by with cheaper ones.
Let’s say you want to make a drawing with ordinary permanent markers or wax pencils. But how can you fix a design on fabric so that it doesn’t fade after washing? I tried a variety of glues, sealants, acrylic varnishes for this and the result was this master class.
So one day I decided to draw a finch.
First of all, I drew a sketch of the bird onto my eye using a red, thin permanent marker.
Then I had to outline the drawing with a black thin marker, since the red color turned out to be too faded - this was the idea: you can correct the shortcomings of the drawing, if anything.
Next, I placed newspaper inside the T-shirt and colored the bird’s body with wax pencils, and then went over the top with thick felt-tip pens.
This was done so that the oil-based wax pencils would play their water-repellent role and prevent the felt-tip pens from spreading across the fabric.
Also, permanent markers, unlike felt-tip pens, bleed less and give a transition of color from one to another - which is visible on the feathers of the wings - unlike acrylic paints.
Now it’s time to pin our drawing!
The photo shows what kind of sealant was used - transparent silicone, without additives, brand "Novbytkhim", was purchased at a construction supply store. The sealant is applied exclusively with your fingers and spread evenly over the pattern, and a little behind the pattern for secure fastening. Then you need to wait half an hour for it to dry and go over it with a hot iron to make the surface smoother. It is better to put newspaper inside the T-shirt so that the silicone does not crack from the temperature. And voila!
