We decided to make our cat house round:
In order to make such a house, we needed:
- Paper sheets of paper (we used A4 pages);
- scissors;
- glue;
- The rod from the handle;
- Copper wire of medium thickness;
- the needle;
- A few wide plastic sheets (we used the old folder for papers);
- Gouache paints and brush;
- Scotch tape;
- Fur litter (we cut off part from the old fur coat);
- Decorative ornaments (bow, flowers (wreath)).
Starting work, we take an old plastic folder for papers and cut out a circle from it:
Then we take the paper and cut it into thin strips (width from 2 centimeters):
Using the core from the pen, we twist the strips of paper into tubes and glue them:
After that, we glue the resulting tubes in three pieces with adhesive tape in order to make the walls of the house stronger:
We pierce glued tubes from below with a needle and sew with wire to the edges of a round plastic base:
Further, composing new tubes, we braid them with those that are already hemmed to a plastic base. You need to braid with a "zigzag", that is, constantly intertwining both ends. We start braiding like this:
In the case when the braiding tubes end, they need to be fixed with a clothespin and add new ones (insert them inside or on top, depending on how wide or narrow their tips are).
Having made five circles of weaving, we decided to remove from the plastic base area with an iron lock, which would be inconvenient for the cat. We managed to do this with the help of a thick needle and scissors, but with scissors alone we would not have succeeded in any way. From another piece from the plastic folder, we cut a rectangular section, slightly larger than the size of the cut section and glue it:
To calculate the desired height of the walls of the house, you need to measure the growth of the cat. Our cat's height is 32.5 cm., And for this height (but slightly higher), we decided to make the height of the walls of the house.
The cat repeatedly went inside:
Having made nine rows of weaving, we decided to further make several rows of patterned, "openwork" weaving:
So the resulting house looks in front:
We decided to add a second row:
Then we put a fur litter, but it turned out that she hid all the patterns from the inside:
Next, from above, we bend the tips of the ducts and add new ones to them, after which we bind them and connect them to the opposite ends, forming a roof. At first the roof didn’t look very good:
Work on the roof took us about two days. During this time, we managed to trim it and make a number of weaving along the edges. For decoration, we added a decorative wreath of plastic flowers on top:

After that, we set about painting the house outside. Gouache paints came in handy here; and after coloring we decided to add a bow with a rose and a lace on top. When working, they constantly corrected the roof, trying to make it even.
After some time, we found that the craft was leaning forward too much due to the patterned weaving at the back (one row of weaving was too high), and when we lowered this row, the house stopped bowing:
Now we take the old school bow and dissolve its seams. The result was a piece of fabric:
Having folded the fabric in half, we make seams on its upper side and tighten (compress) the fabric:
Then we hem it to the ducts of the upper section of the house (along the edges of its roof), aligning it in length to its circumference:
After that, everything - our cat house is ready.
In total, it took us ten days to make this house:
