The Monkey is the patron saint of the upcoming 2016 according to the Chinese calendar. Therefore, the closer the holidays are, the more people flock to stores to buy souvenirs depicting this funny animal. And we suggest not to rush into shopping, because an original handmade item is much more valuable.
Crochet monkey

For those who have basic crocheting skills, it will not be difficult to make such a mischievous and cheerful monkey. And for those who do not have such skills, this is a great opportunity to acquire them! To make it easier to use the diagrams, let’s familiarize ourselves with the symbols.
Crochet monkey

So, we will need synthetic yarn "Nitron", 200 grams of bright yellow, 50 grams of lemon and 3 meters of orange, a crochet hook No. 2.5 and a hook for carpet equipment (they are convenient for sewing finished parts, but if you don’t have them, you can use a needle with a large ear). To fill the parts, you can use padding polyester or other synthetic filler.
The head and body are knitted together with bright yellow yarn. We start knitting the head from the crown. We cast on 6 air loops and knit 7 rows in a spiral, adding loops according to pattern 1A.
Crochet monkey

The seventh row should contain 48 loops. We knit another 10 rows without adding loops. In this case, we will get a cup-shaped part.
Crochet monkey

Starting from the eighteenth row, we decrease the loops according to diagram 1B, which shows only one sector out of six. There are 12 loops left in the 23rd row. Let's knit another row of them. Through the open hole we fill the head with padding polyester and begin knitting the body.
Crochet monkey

Since the principle of adding loops for the head and body is the same, we will use pattern 1 A, starting from the second row. There will now be 15 rows without adding, since the body is more elongated than the head. You can decrease loops according to scheme 1B. When 12 loops remain, we stuff the body, knit another row through one loop and tighten the remaining loops with thread to close the hole.
Crochet monkey

Now we will knit the convex muzzle of the monkey with pale yellow threads. Let's use pattern 1A again until the sixth row. In the sixth row there are 42 loops. Next are 2 rows without adding, and in the next two rows we decrease loops similarly to rows 19 and 20 of pattern 1B.
Crochet monkey

We fill the muzzle with padding polyester and sew it on so that the top of the muzzle is located in the middle of the head.
The monkey has double ears, the back side is bright, the front side is pale. We knit both parts according to pattern 2.

We fold the resulting ovals and knit along the edge through the loops of both parts with a bright yellow thread. Sew the ears on the sides of the head.
Crochet monkey

The monkey's hands will consist of pale yellow palms and a bright yellow top. We knit the palms in a circle, first according to pattern 2A (the number of loops increases), and then according to pattern 2B (the number of loops decreases), on which only half of the loops are shown, the second half is knitted symmetrically.
Crochet monkey

The top row of the palm contains 12 loops.
Crochet monkey

Next, using a bright yellow thread, we knit 21 rows in a spiral and stuff the part.
Crochet monkey

You need two such parts.
We start knitting the legs from the foot, which will be in the shape of a shoe. We make the sole pale yellow and knit it according to pattern 4.
Crochet monkey

We knit the next row with a bright thread, without adding and inserting the hook through the front wall of the loop. Three more rows in the usual way, and again we knit behind the front wall, but now only half a row, starting from the middle of the long side of the foot to the middle of the opposite side. And we knit the same loops in the opposite direction.
Crochet monkey

We connect the edges and knit a row through the loops of the edges.
Crochet monkey

We return to the back of the foot and knit the leg in a circle to the top, 22 rows in total.
Crochet monkey

We stuff both legs and sew them to the lower part of the body.
For the tail we knit a braid of five loops, in the next row we knit two from each loop and then we knit 25 rows. We stuff and sew at the bottom of the body at the back.
All that remains is to finish finishing the finished monkey. On the head above the muzzle we knit a semicircle with a pigtail.
Crochet monkey

We place the eyes inside the semicircle. We attach a nose to the muzzle. On it, in the lower part, we embroider a smile with orange thread and stitches.
Crochet monkey

We cut orange threads into 7 and 10 centimeters. We fasten long threads around the body with a hook for carpet equipment, it looks like a Papuan skirt. We attach the short ones in the same way on the top of the head, this is the hair.
Crochet monkey

So our mischievous and cheerful monkey is ready. May she bring good luck in the new year!
