Making a kanzashi-style hairpin is very simple; all you need to do is learn the technique of making two main petals from satin ribbons. To make this kanzashi style hairpin, you will need:
- Green and white satin ribbon;
- Scissors;
- Crocodile clip;
- Glue gun or any other silicone-based glue;
- Candle and lighter;
- Bead for the center of the flower.
Cut seven squares of white ribbon and five of green. Don't rely on your eye; it's better to use a ruler and marker. Singe the edges of each square so that the fabric does not unravel and is easy to work with.
Let's form a round petal. Fold the white square in half diagonally. Fold two opposite corners towards the middle. Fold the entire piece in half. You should end up with a round petal. Now it needs to be fixed in this position.Melt the edge of the fabric where the corners meet and press with your fingers or tweezers. Trim off the excess and also singe the tape. The petal is ready.
Then, we will make a sharp kanzashi petal. Take the green square and make a triangle out of it, as in the previous version.
Fold the triangle in half again, connecting opposite corners to form a smaller triangle.
Fold in half one last time and secure the petal. Melt the edges of the tape and press with your fingers, as shown in the photo.
In total you will need three round and four sharp petals made of white satin ribbon, and five sharp petals made of green. Make sure all petals are the same size. If you accidentally cut off more than expected from the petals, then it is better to cut off the same amount from the rest. Then the flower will look neater.
Glue the round white and green sharp petals together as shown in the photo below. Leave a gap between the petals. If you use quick-drying glue, the parts can be glued directly to each other. But if the glue takes a long time to dry, then it is better to attach the petals to the base. Cut out a small circle from green felt and glue all the petals to it.
Make two blanks with green and white petals, and one with white ones. Glue them together.
In the place where there was a gap in the flower, glue a blank of six sharp petals. Attach the middle.
Glue the finished composition to the hairpin.
This hairpin is suitable for both girls at a school party and girls at prom. The hairpin itself can be decorated with stones and rhinestones, then it will look even more elegant.
